When I got the CT4 the fronts were at 2.7 and rears at 2.4 (I think - or the reverse but significant difference).

Just had the Winter tires fitted by Porsche and all 4 are at 2.7. Is this normal?

They were also noticeably louder driving home. Is that to be expected?

tires are pirelli p zero winter 20”. 285 rear 245 front

I have just fitted the same size P-Zero Winter tires but with the ELECT designation and find them to be very quiet. I think they are foam filled.

As for pressure, I am running 2.8 bar front and 2,6 bar rear which is per the manual I believe.

Thanks for that. Just got a reply from Porsche saying 2.7 is standard and 2.4 is comfort but not recommended if the car is often loaded.

Seems I also have the Elect tires so maybe it was just the wet road which was a bit noisier?

My experience with the same type of winter tyres was the opposite. They were considerably quiterer than my 21 inch F1.

Looking at your display for TPMS, is there a setting for winter tyres to switch between normal loads and full load? I was advised to set that correctly and then adjust my tyre pressures as per the tyre deviations page. Not the actual pressure since that changes quite a lot with external temperatures.

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule but softer rubber with more tread and sipes could easily lead to more noise and less range.
I get slightly less range with the Continental winter tyres I run on my Plug-in hybrid but was expecting them to be noisier than they are.

We are going to the Moray Firth coast of Scotland next week for a close friends significant birthday celebration and I am debating whether to fit my winter tyres before we go! The long range forecast makes it look uneccesary but one never knows, I will probably leave the normal tyres on for the reduced consumtion and change as soon as we get back to Oxfordshire..

Afaik, winter tyres makes more noise (I'll replace mine summer on 21" wheels with 20" in about 10 days), but I'm wondering why you have more pressure on front tyres?
Based on a label on the driver's side, I make 2,4 bars for front, and 2,5 for back...

Thats just how they were when Porsche delivered the car (2.7 front / 2.4 rear) and I didn’t question it. Now they’re at 27 front and rear after they fitted Winters. Seems you guys have different guidance? All very curious…

I don't know... when I got my car, it was 2.4/2.4 ... when temperature went down, I had between 2.1-2.2. in the morning, so I read the label and make them 2.4/2.5.
Have you checked your label on the door?

After 21,000 km on my Michelin Pilot Sport 4 NF0's – I was impressed to see I still have 6mm of thread on all four tyres.

Got my winter boots on yesterday by Porche with these pressure setup which fit the car presets for normal load winter 20”. Those Winter PZero’s are sooooo quiet!

I have been told that the winter tires require less pressure and the differential between fronts and rears are for security (sidewall torsion forces) and drivability reasons, generating more understeer than oversteer….

The tyre pressures for the various iterations, wheel sizes and types of tyres (summer, all-season & winter) is given in the owners manual/"good to know" under Technical Data. Here is an extract of the page for my car (4S with three seats in the back and 20" snow tyres). Recommended pressures are 2.8 front axle and 2.6 bar rear axle (part load).
