Hi Everyone,

I just placed my order for a 2022 Taycan GTS this past weekend.

I was given a lead time of about 6-8 months.

I'm now wondering if it would have made sense (from a resale perspective, if nothing else) to have requested a 2023 MY, because if the lead time given is correct, I'd be receiving my car in October - December, after the 2023 MY goes into production.

What do you all think? Should I request them to switch my order to a 2023?

Thanks
Amit

Really depends on how keen or pressed you are to get the car. I doubt MY23 will bring drastic changes. I think MY24 will mark the introduction of the Facelift.

I am not really pressed to get the vehicle.

I agree that MY23 will not bring any drastic changes.

My question was really in regards to the resale value of the vehicle. For example, if I intend on keeping the vehicle for only 2 or 3 years, surely a MY23 would retain more value than a MY22? Of course, I need to account for any possible (likely) price increases on MY23 vehicles too.

I guess my car will end up being a 2023 the way the world is going right now.

Preparing the lube for a 2023 model year larger-than-usual price increase…

I guess you'd just have to time the sale of your vehicle right to not disadvantage yourself with an MY22. It could go either way. With how things are going I'd want my order locked in as soon as possible.

:CWL:

Did you order yet?

I wonder if production delays will cause them to tell me I'm getting a 2023 instead of a 2022 and if so, would they expect me to pay more for it even though I have a signed contract for a 2022?

Yes, I agree. My sales advisor will let me know when my build is locked (prior to production) so if that ends up being around the time they start taking 2023 orders, I'll check on the price and see if he can switch me to a 2023 (assuming there isn't a huge price increase). Otherwise, I'll just enjoy the savings on the 2022.

Yep, I have a Turbo S allocation that freezes a week from today (May 20) and it is MY23, so am able to add the fancy dimming pano roof, etc. According to TYD delivery is first week of Oct.
