There are various threads regarding range and efficiency as it's obviously a huge deal. I'm hoping we can use this thread for -owners only- to post their actual use efficiency/range logs noting things like country/state, temperature, weather, driving style, elevation gain, from which version/tires/mode. Ideally we'd just do single, clean posts with efficiency logs and try to avoid making this a conversational thread; more of a reference thread for people in different areas to gauge how far they can go.

Admin, let me know if this is a problem. I thought it'd be helpful to compile as many range logs as possible in a clean & concentrated thread. The more data points we have, the better we can all feel about range.

Range Log; 07/31/20; Taycan 4S/20" summer tires
Location; Seattle to Westport & back
Elevation change; Nominal
Weather; 80 degrees avg.
Mileage; 221 miles
Battery % used; 80%
Driving mode; Range mode at avg. 74 mph, AC full approx. 180 miles/Sport Plus at avg. 65 mph for approx 41 miles
Driving style; Fairly aggressive, including 12 or so very aggressive 50-90 mph pulls for passing. True Porsche driving, no extra care taken.

Up Steven's Pass, down Snoqualmie Pass
82 degrees avg
314 miles driven (120% battery used)
35 kWh/100 miles
Mostly VERY fast and aggressive driving, cruise at 74 one way and 84 the other. Multiple 120+ pulls. Lots of passing, several long twisty road runs.

This car is ridiculously efficient. Going up and down the pass cost no extra energy, it regened the losses on the way down. Aggressive acceleration and high speeds seem to have very minor impact. 84 mph was returning a 36 kWh/100 number from 80 miles of driving.

This is a great initiative. I posted my logs elsewhere, copying them here too. Driving is in Minnesota, mild hills, driving was conservative but not hypermiling (meaning cruise set to 73, use acceleration without limit if needed, but no launches). Efficiency is definitely lower here than what you can get on flat land (I know from my Tesla - getting close to Chicago efficiency improves).

I’ve driven my Taycan Turbo just over 2000 miles in Boulder Colorado. City, highway, suburban, always in either normal or sport, 100% of the time with the A/C on. I always get over 300 miles per charge driving normally with plenty spirited driving mixed in. I always get over predicted estimates. Here is my latest fill up.

With 5,000 miles on my odometer in Colorado, I am averaging 33.3 kWh/hundo, which translates to a range of 261 miles on a 87 kWh charge. Weather has been mixed summer heat, mostly dry. I drive hard, almost all the time. A lot of that is up and down through the mountains.

On a 1,100 mile round trip to Kansas, averaged 35 kWh/hundo in range mode, 80 mph, with about 400 pounds of people and gear. Warm and windy. Even sparse ac use for some of the time when we were off the interstate away from dc chargers. That’s 248 miles per charge.

Amazing car with amazing range, no matter how you drive.

After 784 miles on my Taycan 4S w/20" Turbo wheels, the indicated range is now 275 miles. Spec includes ALL available performance options (except ceramic brakes) and many luxury options.

When I took delivery, range was 204 miles then 234 then 245 then 262. Almost every time I charge, the range increases and 300+ mile range seems highly likely. After a recent 120 mile drive into the mountains of Virginia, the combination of "Miles Driven" and remaining "Range" was 297.

Driving is a combination of city, spirited back roads and highway - though most highway driving was under 80 (7-10 over the posted 55-70 limits.) Hot weather (90's) with A/C running and hilly/mountain terrain (foothills of Blue Ridge Mountains plus a trip up into the mountains.)

I mostly drive in Sport Plus except on the highway where I switch to Normal (probably doesn't matter at steady speeds.)

Traded in a 2016 Cayman GT4 which I raced aggressively at VIR. The Taycan 4S feels much heavier in the corners BUT is incredibly stable and calm under aggressive driving. In many ways the Taycan's instant acceleration makes up for it and puts a smile on my face every time.

The Taycan performance is many steps above my Turbo Cayenne - handling, acceleration and ride. One is a spirited SUV and the other is - well - totally redefines what a car is and can do. Then again, the Taycan can't tow a boat or trailer. In the end all three are distinctly Porsche - similar, yet totally different animals. They're all a BLAST to drive, but for different reasons.

Bottom line on range, EPA range estimate is misleading at best.

My question is, how low is it reasonably safe to go on % of SOC when planning a trip? I don’t have a lot of direct fast chargers around, and most are only 50 KW.

SoC can be the most accurate as it doesn't depend on prior driving style; however, it depends on you having good explanations of efficiency is n terms of miles/kWh or even miles/pct.

I suspect that the Taycan will be 2.7mi/pct if driven with range in mind but at highway speeds of 75-80mph. That's my hope anyway.

Good question. For me it’s about, how many miles to the next charger. I’ll give myself 10 miles, so that’s about 4% so round it up to 5%. But saying that, would probably be a stressful last 10 miles so 10% is what I would set in ABRP etc.
