*** This thread concerns a specific issue which appears to happen only on the J1.2 Taycan.

Car offline for many days - display shows "4G" (it's a J1.2, the J1 used to say "LTE") so there is a network connection, but no data is passing.
Google search in the satnav gives an error message that there is no connectivity.

So Porsche Assist had me log out of PCM, reset car settings etc.
Now I can't log back in -- after entering credentials, it sits there for ages then says "Login is not possible at present. Please try again later".

OPC took car for 2 1/2 days, did a full system reset, handed it back. Still not working! They have now referred it to Porsche but the clock is ticking because we are about to go on a 3000 mile road trip.

Any thoughts on what else the OPC should be trying?

Mine previously had the same behavior (twice). Just like you, Porsche USA had me log out of the PCM and perform an entire reset, but then couldn't log back in and all connectivity AND CarPlay were shot.

There is nothing you can do from the car side of things to get it back connected, and escalation to Germany is your only hope. It is something to do with the Porsche server / cloud service that talks to the cars and yours isn't being included anymore.
Mine resolved on its own a few weeks ago and has been 100% solid on connectivity since then.

Both times it happened to me, the app showed the car as being at a location I visit a few times per week that also happens to be a cell service dead zone. My theory is that cell service dead zone somehow triggered the loss of connectivity.

Ah interesting, thanks. It feels as though there is an authorisation problem or similar in the comms layers above the basic 4G service, so it gets network connectivity but the car can't connect to the cloud services. Let's hope that an escalation to Germany doesn't take long -- and perhaps also doesn't require me to drive another 100 miles (twice) to the OPC!

How did you know it was resolved? Did you keep trying to log in or was there some other indication? (I have a long password so it is painful to keep retrying!)

(I also had CarPlay refuse to connect to the phone after this incident -- it looked as though it was connecting, and presented all the right windows on IOS, but never connected. However plugging it in by USB fixed that instantly. Frustratingly the OPC did not have a USB cable so I had to wait until I was at home.)

The second time, I knew not to log out of the PCM because I would be stuck as Guest. I discovered it was resolved because CarPlay connected wirelessly one day when starting a drive.

You can try lifting the negative cable on the 12V battery and giving it 2-3 minutes before going back on. That got me working for maybe 1-2 days before losing connectivity again. If you have the theft tracking service, disconnecting the 12V will fire off an alert, which just proves the cellular connection was fine all along.

Thanks @Tooney - lots of great info there - although most of it is about how to resolve "no LTE/4G" which I have had many times in the past on a previous Taycan but isn't the issue this time.

--Do you see error message 'no data connection can be established right now' when you make selections in media display?
--Do you have green light near mirror about emergency call status?
--You mentioned having a lengthy password. Has that password worked in the past? I remember reading posts in here years ago about some issue with certain passwords/characters not working - I forget the details.
--One difference in J1.2 from prior models is that in J1.2, 4G symbol can be present but datacomm between vehicle and Porsche server application is still not working properly. On earlier models LTE meant datacomm was working. I would not assume that just because 4G is visible that your J1.2 has working datacomm.
Good luck.

yes and yes

password was fine, long but not weird :)

That is very interesting And seems to be the case here. (It seems the OPC hadn’t come across this - not surprising when it also turned out their Porsche Pro didn’t know the 2-finger reboot had been removed from J1.2 until I told him.)

Any thoughts on how this can be fixed?

These Taycans can be so frustrating! If only they had proper error recording so the service team could see what is happening and stop all the guessing.

Mine (ST MY25) is at the dealership since this week, having the same issues for over two months.
they did a soft- and hard reset on the data combox, but that didn’t work. Stuttgart advised to do a reset on a secondary data box (can’t recall the name), that will be done today.
if that doesn’t do the trick, both parts will be replaced next week (under guarantee).

I believe the options to fix no cellular datacomm listed in links I posted above apply. Removing electrical power either by pulling fuses or disconnecting 12v battery have worked for some.

I'm not sure what to think since apparently dealer was not able to correct the problem. Normally dealer resetting software, and if, necessary replacing hardware, should restore data connection.

Navigation system ought to work since it does not depend on cellular datacomm.

Could it be triggered when the Porsche server is down?
I have had a problem getting contact with my car a couple of times and it comes back to normal on its own and the only thing I can think may have caused it was the server being down when the car was running.
I am in a fishing syndicate on the Kennet so go quite often.
On Wednesday when I got home and plugged the car in it thought it was still in Marsh Benham and the cable was unplugged.
I use OVO charge anytime and it also thought the car was not plugged in.

It was normal again after driving yesterday.

I used to get that a lot on the J1 Taycan but in this case the car has been offline since 24 March so it isn’t a server outage. But yes it could be that the car failed to recover from an outage.

A bit of an Embuggerance if there is no longer a way to reset though!

My car would not connect these last 5 days. 5 resets of the PCM (two-finger salute) had no effect. Found some time today to disconnect negative terminal from 12v battery - LTE came back immediately. Got a slew of errors, mostly inconsequential. Only weird one was problem with left charge port. Cleared after I operated the right one. All good again. You need that connection to log into the PCM.

PS: After each reset the car's SIM would sometimes have a signal, sometimes not. When it had a signal, it would sometimes display LTE, sometimes not. My way of telling whether a connection is real is Spotify. If you have a connection, it works.

So mine has been out since May 7 (April 17 delivery). I've had it at the dealer three times. The first time they had it for three weeks and it just sat in their parking lot. They decided that the OTA module needed to be replaced.

In June the dealer ordered a new OTA module, which took about 6 weeks to come from Germany and rescheduled service once the part came in. They had it for a couple days, but I needed it for a trip and picked it up before they did anything to it (another story). Now scheduled for August 18. They told me they'll need the car for a couple weeks. because they have to coordinate with Germany to set things up correctly.

My Car Play works fine, but no app access. I also have Apex Protect tracking, which until last week worked fine. Over the past few days the app indicated the car was in "privacy mode." I looked up how to change that and I do not have an option to select or deselect privacy mode. Apex no longer tracks. But.........

I messed around with the Porsche connect settings and this morning I suddenly am able to log in and now have all Porsche connect services. But Apex still doesn't work. Odd.
