Have not realized how good Auto-regen function is … in 3.5 years….

Do you orefer
I have never used the Auto-regen function. I was always turning it on and off manually with the steering wheel button. As the J1.2 does not have this button and I didn’t want to use the programmable button I switched it to auto-regen.

Turns out it works just great. Slows down when there is slower traffic in front of you and coasts if there is none. I am really impressed how good it works!

What a bummer that it took me 3.5 years to find out….

Anybody else “found” an unused or underrated function?
Do you prefer “always on” or “auto”?

I’m curious what others have discovered and find underrated. So far we’ve mentioned auto regen and Hold. What would you add?

It's so good until it stops working because of reflections or other stuff that makes the system alert that it's not functional... as far as i know there is no fix for it, that's the limitation of the system at least on cars without the radar sensor.
Never had any problems using Auto during all four years with J1.1 …and it was (and still is with J1.2) always on Auto since day one 🤷‍♂️

I agree about auto-regen. Had a great sales person at dealer - Brandon Washington at Porsche Bethesda (DC suburb) - who advised me to leave it in auto-regen. And also agree that slowing down automatically when getting close to the car in front is one of those features you'd be unlikely to choose but is great to have. Especially when someone cuts in front of you at highway speeds.

The rear camera washer - didn’t know there was such a thing until I saw a thread on here
If they can do a rear camera washer why didn't they do an Innodrive/Active CC sensor washer?!

Because the ACC sensor does not need washing, unless it's completely blocked by snow it works. It's a radar sensor.

The other sensor that is responsible for innodrive is the camera, this is located on top of the windscreen and the wipers pass over it, so to wash it you just have to wash the windscreen.

It most definitely does need washing - on my way down to Paris in September (not a hint of snow!) but a lot of rain and spray, the innodrive stopped working with a message that the sensor needed cleaning. Very annoying as that's when I needed it most. Pulled off, found the sensor - who puts a sensor under the front numberplate FFS - cleaned it with a cloth and off we went again.

The camera can fault even after the wipers have cleaned the windshield and it looks clear, had to scrub it with cleaner to fix.
I've also have problems with the radar sensor when it's raining.

Never ever heard of that happening, the only time I have ever had issues with the ACC radar is when I literally went through a snow wall and it was packed full of snow.

Almost all the cars have the sensors down low (apart from the Chinese ones with Lidar).
The radar works through plastic and generally is completely unaffected by dirt.

Are you sure the message was not about the camera? Because that's what shows up on the dash, and a power cycle resets it (or it fixes itself after a while).
Either way, what you are describing is so much of a non-issue that I have a hard time believing it - been driving cars with ACC and low mounted sensors for over 10 years in all kind of weather conditions. Layer of dirt or spray does absolutely nothing to them, you'd have to go mud diving (or drive through high snow so your whole front end is stuffed full).

You wouldn't expect a radar system to fault like that, but as recently as yesterday my InnoDrive cut out several times without snow over 200 miles of wet dirty road spray, would come back after three to five minutes.
I'm going to give it a cleaning today to see if it helps.

Yes, that's normal but it's 99% of the time, because the camera gets dirty on the windscreen, not due to the radar.
Blocked camera = no innodrive.

TIL that there’s a button on the steering wheel that I can use to switch to auto-regen! Been clicking on the PCM while turning sport sound on every time. Is there a way to always have it set to auto so I don’t have to choose it?
