I’ve had my 4S for more than a year, but due to the risk of a dead 12V battery have only ever manually charged in the daytime. Now following the latest general Software update (hopefully fixing the possible 12V problem) I have decided to try a timed charge. Following an excellent YouTube video setting both timer and profile so I could gain the Octopus advantage from 0;30 to 4;30 cheap rate, I programmed the car. All appeared to work when I checked my phone around 5:00 in the mornin,g. Although showing that the charge was complete it still indicated the charging as green, rather than a waiting blue. Checking the car later showed it had reached 89% charge rather than the 85% I had set!
I’m hoping for some forum help if I’ve made a mistake, or insight if it’s another bug.

Can you share your profile screenshot also (you can erase the address details)?

What EVSE (charge point / wall box) are you using?

Timer looks fine (same as I have used from day 1 (Nov'20)).

There was never an issue relating to 12V concerns for overnight charging (it related to leaving the car connected to the EVSE for 3 days or more (amongst other scenarios)).

Charging is via Zappi 2. I was just being safe with the 12V issue as all was working with manual charging.

Thx - all looks fine / correct.

What was your starting SOC?

What is your supply rating - 32A & 7.4kW for example?

What make and model of charger (EVSE) are you using?

It could be that your target charge couldn't be reached within the allotted time and so it 'spilled' over leading to a slight overcharge (my guess).

Next time record the starting SOC and we can then look at what is 'possible' to achieve within the time slot (which is quite short - 4 hrs). It could be you are on the margins of reaching your target within the time period.

I generally get 85% on the nose but have had a couple of 84% and I have a charge window between 00:00 and 07:00 (my off peak / free charge time) with a typical SOC 55% - 65% which can be reached comfortably within the period charging at 7.4kWh. Starting with a SOC of 35% to 85% is possible too.

The Zappi 2 is 7kW and SOC ( from memory) was 77% so the car would have reached 85% before the 4 hour charge period. I was expecting either condition (charge level, or time limit) to stop the charging? Next time I’ll try with a lower state of charge so the 85% cannot be reached in the 4 hours. Ideally, I was hoping if the SOC was low I would top-up over multiple nights. . .

Delete the profile and just use the timer and it will work.

I suspect it won't - we need both a profile and a timer - this is a long running disagreement with some members of this forum - but whatever works I guess and a timer is necessary to ensure charging stops at a specific time.

Mine works perfect for what he’s trying to do with just a timer. I can guarantee it will fix his problem.

I have a similar issue, but only had thr car less than 2 weeks, so still teething issues.

Been reporting on another thread about trying to get Octopus Go and Sync EV working together(with the help of W1NGE).

I will update this thread once I get it all working correctly.

My thinking is 4 hours will charge about 30kwh with 7.4kw supply.

So aiming to have the 'general setting' to get it to 50% soc (if below this level) whenever it's plugged in. Then paused till the timer takes over at 00:30-04:30 to take it up to c80%.

Not charged it for a few days. Hoping to try over the weekend when next day not an issue if it fails!

So this is the first time ever I have got the car Charge light flashing blue.
Even better, when I flick the 'direct charge' button, it now turns green.

This is how I set it up with no options selected on the Sync EV.

No - I noticed that too - you only need 1 for each location - in this case 'Home' would be sufficient.

I have 2 - 1 for each 'Home' - works a treat.
