You can press a button on the handle to lock the door without using your key, but it has never worked simply by walking away from it.

I have comfort access and it never locks when I walk away, but it does unlock as I get close. Another thing I wanted to mention that I’ve found useful. Sometimes when I’m walking around and don’t want to carry the keys, I’ll remote lock it with the app and leave the keys inside the vehicle...

Let me tell you my experience. I got a CPO 2024 4S in Dec 2025, with 8k miles and warranty coverage until 2030. I plan to extend my CPO for 2 more years until 2032 to match the battery warranty, and I’m hoping by then there is a warranty that covers it post 8y/100k miles.
