People selling you the warranty are professionals making money (quite a bit of money given how hard they push to sell a warranty at closing). They're making that money from you. The only way you come out ahead is if the vehicle somehow requires very costly repairs that the warranty company...
If it's CPO all the recalls need to have been done otherwise the dealer won't release it for sale, but always good to call the dealer service dept and ask them to send you the work orders showing the recall work. Also check the NHTSA web site with the VIN to verify that they've reported...
As a software guy this kind of thing frustrates me. There's a log file somewhere that shows why charging didn't initiate for your car. There's a developer somewhere who could read that log file and determine why then fix the software. Heck AI could do that now. What's missing is a manager at...
Curious about this, as I've never used the Porsche app for charging. Does the app support other non-Porsche charger networks besides Tesla? (so far I've used the "native" app for the charging networks I connected to, but I haven't tried Tesla yet so wondering if the Porsche app would be better...
Anecdotal sample size of one, but I found that after installing the update my vehicle was cured of the "disconnects from the app after a day" syndrome. It has consistently remained in contact with the Porsche mothership, and hence my app, since the update. Beforehand it would consistently stop...
I've noticed that regen braking is disabled until after the first time brakes are used in a journey, and have (when I remember) made a point of braking reasonably hard on that first time every time I drive the car. Not sure if this actually helps but feels worthwhile.
The "app not updating" syndrome I assumed was just crappy software that will never be fixed. Mine looses contact with the mothership after a couple of days and will never update until I turn the vehicle on. Presumably there's some session persistence bug.
Interesting to see many comments on this thread along the lines of "12V battery problem, what 12V battery problem -- you're doing something wrong". This syndrome is extremely well documented and there is a fix to the 12V battery firmware (WSS6), and apparently now a "workaround" that the app...
Re-reading the post, I think Safelite said they wouldn't drill/fill this windshield while a replacement was obtained. That seems reasonable as the damage is severe. Where I live the state uses large gravel in winter on the highway that results in many cracked windshields, so I've dealt with...
I had something similar happen with an ICE Porsche vehicle. In that case the "rot" occurred only in locations that had been affected when the car was stored at very low temperature, then moved. If you took a cursory look at the tires they looked ok. So it's at least possible that both things are...
I had this happen with a Cayenne and it was replaced under warranty. Super annoying. The flatbed guy who came to take the car to the dealer looked at it once and told me exactly what was wrong and how much it was going to cost to replace. He said he had hauled many such vehicles with the same issue.
Isn't Audi ruled out since it shares much of the tech platform with the Taycan?
(And if Audi dealers are somehow able to fix cars quicker, why can't Porsche send some Taycans to them?)
Many threads here in the past but here's my summary:
There were some dodgy batteries installed in Taycans. In some very small percentage of cases (perhaps two, three in the world), that could cause a fire when charge state very high. The recalls are about both finding the dodgy batteries and...
