I’m in the market for a used Taycan. Currently looking at a nicely equipped CPO 2022 4S with 15K miles on it. I was hoping to get some advice about potential issues and pitfalls in buying a used Taycan. Any insights and recommendations would be appreciated!

If it's CPO all the recalls need to have been done otherwise the dealer won't release it for sale, but always good to call the dealer service dept and ask them to send you the work orders showing the recall work. Also check the NHTSA web site with the VIN to verify that they've reported correctly.

Given recent posts here I'd also ask for an explicit assertion that there is no underbody damage since that can (has been) used as an excuse to deny very costly repairs under warranty.

Be sure the CPO you buy has the performance battery vs. the standard battery. The other comments I am reading here are solid.

Thanks for all the replies. The car is from a Porsche dealer and Porsche certified, and it does have the performance battery plus.
Regarding the battery health report, is that something the dealer should be able to provide?

Please post full spec/build so we can review.

I agree with others, while CPO, be sure all recalls are complete.

Dealers can do battery health check but will not do it for free as official procedure requires it to be completed over a couple of days of time. You can do your own spot health check using OBD/CarScanner app that we can help you with after you get the car. For example, I just did mine and I am 87% (SoH) state of health, which is basically remaining battery capacity at 28k miles and 3 years.

The OP doesn't have to worry about open recalls or TSBs with a true Porsche CPO. If the work can be done, it will be done prior to sale.....along with many other things that only come with CPO.

If OP shares the VIN then we can check it. I am in the camp of do not trust and always verify.

Be aware that Taycans were recalled in 2024 for HV battery may short circuit with risk of fire.
As a recall remedy software was installed to monitor the battery, warn if the condition occurs, and limit charging until the dealer replaces defective battery modules.
Porsche has recently stated that such repair work in the future will be covered at its cost only during the original HV battery warranty period.

HV battery state of health (SoH) is an indication of battery capacity. It does not indicate whether the battery may have modules needing replacement.

A 22 w/ a CPO should mean that it has a factory warranty until 2028 (check it; that is very important; these cars can be extremely expensive to repair).

If you intend to keep beyond 2028, budget for (expensive) car insurance.

The battery, btw, is out of warranty in 2030 and replacement, if necessary, is almost certainly not worthwhile (so SOH (State of Health) % is critical).

Also be prepared for serious depreciation.

The dealer can supply but the official Porsche SOH procedure is very time consuming (and expensive)..if that is not a good option, a scanner app can provide SOH and that SOH "should" be a good approximation.

CPO is not an an extension of factory warranty.
That may technically be true but my Porsche issued CPO covered every problem the car had (and there were plenty!) beyond the 4 year factory warranty. What would a CPO NOT cover that a factory warranty would?
