A 22 w/ a CPO should mean that it has a factory warranty until 2028 (check it; that is very important; these cars can be extremely expensive to repair).

If you intend to keep beyond 2028, budget for (expensive) car insurance.

The battery, btw, is out of warranty in 2030 and replacement, if necessary, is almost certainly not worthwhile (so SOH (State of Health) % is critical).

Also be prepared for serious depreciation.
I'd say the serious depreciation occured in years 1-4.

That may technically be true but my Porsche issued CPO covered every problem the car had (and there were plenty!) beyond the 4 year factory warranty. What would a CPO NOT cover that a factory warranty would?
CPO doesn't cover things like window trims, seals, or anything cosmetic that can deteriorate with time. CPO doesn't cover things that aren't actually broken. Two big examples: Interior rattles/noises/vibrations or if something that needs calibrating but that part isn't actually defective or broken, you'll be paying out of pocket for that.

Not on a 4yr old car, no.
A 4 year old car that has 4 years left on a battery warranty is, I suspect, still going to see significant depreciation. Yes, the biggest hit may have occurred, but it is very scary to buy an electric car with a vanishing battery warranty

Hey @RedKloud! I think you’ll love driving a Taycan, and agree with many of the recommendations above.
  1. Have the selling dealer verify the HV battery SOH. Also, have the dealer confirm that there is no under-body damage to the battery tray .
  2. Drive the car over rough roads and listen for rattles or squeaks that would drive you (or me) nuts. Tell the dealer to fix those if he wants to sell you the car.
  3. Post the build and price here so the Forum members can offer thoughts on whether this is a deal or not.
Assuming all is well and the price is fair, go for it! You’ll love driving a Taycan 😀

Regarding HV Battery Expected Life — Recent studies have shown that EV batteries last much longer than originally thought. This post highlights that research and it points out that on average HV EV batteries provide a usable life of about 200,000 miles, which is longer than many early conservative estimates.

There are ~157,000 Gen 1.1 Taycans on the road, and it is highly unlikely that they are all suffering HV battery problems, or that their batteries will suddenly fail when their warranty expires.

Meant to add that my 2021 4s has a CarScanner SoH of 87%. However, my estimated summer max range at 100% SoC is 242 miles, and when my 4s was new my estimated summer max range was 270 miles. The ratio implies a SoH closer to 89%.

Either way, I’m at 37,000 miles with SoH ~87-89%, so you can use that as a comparison point of sorts for the CPO you’re looking at. Since you’re looking at a 2022 4s with 15k miles, I suspect you’ll find the SoH is 92-95% (check with the dealer), and that your max range is 270 miles.

If the build is something that excites you, and there are no squeaks, rattles, or damage to the battery tray, then go for it!

Request a video of the underside before you commit and look very carefully for any damage.
Even a small area of damage can be a disaster in the wrong place.

You wont want to read all 62 pages, but the first few should give you an idea why its so important.
Check for damage

I’m in the market for a used Taycan. Currently looking at a nicely equipped CPO 2022 4S with 15K miles on it. I was hoping to get some advice about potential issues and pitfalls in buying a used Taycan. Any insights and recommendations would be appreciated!
What are they asking for it?
