  1. Charge another car with Taycan?

The Taycan 12V system (smaller battery) might not be able to provide sufficient current to jump start a dead ICE - especially one with a big starter motor. I don't know this for certain - just speculating. If you tried, and the voltage on the Taycan's 12V dropped too low, the battery safety...
  2. Why doesn’t the recuperation (re-Gen) mode automatically come on in range mode?

In the Taycan, when you brake, you are using regen, regardless of the regen setting. The setting you can configure (steering wheel button or drive menu) only controls whether or not you have some small amount of regen for lifting off the accelerator. In other words, stopping from 60 to 0 in a...
  3. Simple way to measure useable battery capacity?

Someone else posted that on the charging display on the lower screen, if you tap the Miles added per Minute value, it will switch to kWh added. I haven't tried but I have seen pictures of this screen displaying kWh added. This should account for charging losses in the PMCC, but perhaps not in...
  4. Qualifying the "Porsche Expert" at your dealership...

You can always siphon some battery fluid from the front and add it to the rear to restore the weight balance.
  5. Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

VHDL is still a thing? We used to push really hard on that but alas Verilog won out. But now we're off topic just a bit...
  6. New Taycan teething problems

It's actually an 8 digit password (7 + !) and only because that's the minimum length allowed. I don't have any reason to think that a 10 wouldn't work. There have been some posts suggesting that some special characters might be a problem - so perhaps go with something very simple then once it's...
  7. HomeLink programming problem - repeated signals

No the menu doesn't pop up, and that's how I want it to work - for reasons you've mentioned (hidden under back-up camera, etc.). Even if it did pop up, you would still need to press the screen to actually transmit the signal. It could be that it doesn't pop up because I have only one code...
  8. Taycan PCM Issues

Excuse to spend 1.5 hours driving a Taycan? How about because there's a road...
  9. 12 Volt Battery issue now

    Whatever works
  10. are all rear cameras this bad?

I pressed the circled area on my computer monitor just like you said but my rear camera still sucks. Did I do something wrong?
  11. New Taycan teething problems

This has happened to multiple users: You correctly enter your Porsche ID (which is the same as when you login on the web) and the password for your Porsche ID (which is the same password as when you login on the web). You get the incorrect credentials thing. You believe you did it right but...
  12. HomeLink programming problem - repeated signals

MY20, my garage (and recorded Homelink location) is off-road. I have only one door programmed so I can assign that door to the instrument cluster button. Has never failed to work. +1 on the re-program. Press and hold the transmitter. If it fails to learn, or if this results in a repeated code...
  13. 12 Volt Battery issue now

The point is if the dealer has to placate you, give you a loaner (which costs them), and they are billing shop hours to PCNA, then Porsche is feeling the pain. If dealers are not forced to address the issues because of inconvenience (which I fully get BTW), then Porsche is less likely to solve...
  14. Qualifying the "Porsche Expert" at your dealership...

@daveo4EV wins the internet today. What would a Taycan owner do with the knowledge of how much/little their local Porsche expert may know? I'll take someone who doesn't know a lot but knows the right people to call and has the perseverance to get shit done over someone who thinks they know a lot...
  15. Where's the WiFi Menu?

Agreed the way Tesla does it is good. I haven't seen a definite Porsche OTA update yet so maybe that's how it will work (update is available - schedule time to install)...
  16. Where's the WiFi Menu?

I think map updates and vehicle / firmware updates are separate. Map updates will come regardless of this setting. I have seen at least one notification of a map update that was applied (did not ask for consent - just advised me the update was installed). Vehicle / firmware updates are...
  17. 12 Volt Battery issue now

Connect app has been running in the background for me since April, other than a stint from mid-October to early December, which started with 12V battery death (probably because I changed the target charge on a timer while it was plugged in) and ended almost 8 weeks later with replacement of my...
  18. How to play VIDEOS in the Taycan's PCM Screen

1920 x 720 would make sense from a manufacturing perspective - but are common dimensions though not necessarily at the same time. Next interesting test would be the decoded surround modes supported. While I have no expectation the PCM would support multi-channel audio, it does have a surround...
  19. Is this the dreaded 12v battery issue?

Same here (car in garage, unlocked, turned off via power button). 12V battery dead one time since April, nothing else 12V related. At the time of death, Taycan was connected to PMCC, and I'm pretty sure I changed a charging timer via the Connect app while it was connected.
  20. SPORT mode all the time?

Guess it's personal preference but I'm not a fan of the auto-regen mode. I'd rather have to apply the brakes myself. Regardless if auto-regen or your foot is calling for deceleration, the car uses regen as much as possible before using the hydraulics.
