  1. North coast 500.

I have done the NC500 in a Tesla which has a similar range to the Taycan. It is fairly straightforward. You must have a ChargePlace Scotland card (or a ChargeYourCar card) as the app is not reliable. You must also check the comments in ZapMap or PlugShare to see if there have been issues at the...
  2. My 4S always charges past it’s set 85% to 91%??

You can stop it overshooting by setting two timers, the first as a charge set to 07:00, the second for, say, preconditioning at 09:00. The charging timer departure time must match the end time of the profile (07:00, in this case).
  3. UK Charging Advice

Personally, I wouldn't load up your phone with too many apps just yet. What you do need to do is order your "Taycan Charging Service" card. This gives you access to Ionity chargers at 30p per kWh where the normal cost is 69p per kWh (!). To do this go into your MyPorsche web account and order...
  4. UK EV Charging Network Ranked

The real winner here is Instavolt. It provides contactless, reliable charging for all cars where Tesla only provides charging for its own 4 models. Even if it wanted to, Tesla cannot open the network up in the UK because the cables are too short and it does not provide contactless charging.
  5. Business Lease Vs Outright purchase in the UK

Don't forget the other advantages of a company car. All servicing, tyres, insurance and public charging costs are reimbursable as expenses. The cost of a home charger is also reimbursable. The company can claim all of the VAT back on these items. Get a charger installed at work and the company...
  6. Simple way to measure useable battery capacity?

I think my answer is that it does not matter. My original concern was that my Turbo S would have less range than the Tesla MSP100D it replaced. Then I went on a 92 mile journey that I do regularly and drove the Taycan the same way as the Tesla. I used exactly the same in both cars - 40%...
  7. Qualifying the "Porsche Expert" at your dealership...

Well I think I would be careful not to make too many generalisations here as my salesman at Porsche Portsmouth UK knew a decent amount about the car. He doesn't own one so some of the stuff around public charging might have taxed him. But he did know the answer to this one:- Can a Taycan be...
  8. Not impressed real world test. Battery issues or just marketing lies?

First off, you were not charged £67. That is the pre-auth card fee for Ionity. It will change to the actual amount eventually. However, you are going to get charged 69p per kwh for the privilege because you didn't use your Taycan Charge card. Expensive mistake. If the card does not work again...
  9. Ionity Chippenham now open

Hi Marc - Do you know anything about this 17 Bay Ionity site a plus a Starbucks just off M6 J14? This will be a fantastic addition! https://www12.staffordbc.gov.uk/online-applications Reference 20/31994/FUL.
  10. 6 Weeks of Taycan Turbo ownership

No idea. Someone found a planning application for the site. If you have the performance plus battery, the car will do over 200 miles at this time of year. I am confident it will do over 250 miles in Summer. The dealer is not going to be able to help you. If you want to get the range up, you...
  11. New EPA range estimates for 2021 Taycan

Yep and this shows there is no standard EPA testing regime that actually works! The Tesla ranges are unachievable and the Taycan ranges are stupidly low.
  12. My impressions after a week…and some tips'n'tricks😉

You are not doing the trunk opening gesture correctly. You need to do a straight kick under the back of the car in the centre. Do not wave the foot from side to side. The car must have seen the key to work (the red light on the key will be flashing). It works every time for me. If the car is...
  13. New EPA range estimates for 2021 Taycan

The EPA is a joke! I am getting 231 miles on a Turbo S and its less than 10 deg C! How can an organisation with no clear testing regime be trusted?
  14. 6 Weeks of Taycan Turbo ownership

There will definitely be many more Ionity and other fast charging sites going live in 2021. For example, there is a planning application for a 17 bay Ionity site in Stafford. Having said that, I can currently do my trip to Scotland using solely 125 kW+ or Ionity chargers for the entire trip...
  15. 6 Weeks of Taycan Turbo ownership

EV Home charging - I have been on an Economy 7 tariff for the last two years that gives me 8p per kWh. 7 hours of charging gives you about 55% battery SOC which is more than enough. I do have a Tesla home battery that runs the house during the peak period. However, I have had chargers installed...
  16. Brand New Taycan... but can't connect to PCM, Anybody else had this?

For Connect to work, you have to get the vehicle linked with your Porsche ID. The dealer should send you a link to achieve this. You have to complete the process before you take delivery. You will need to assign a pin code if you wish to login each time. On your handover, you must get the car...
  17. Taycan Crap Nav

This thread reminds me of the recent Guardian article recently that featured a couple who, through their own ignorance and poor planning, struggled to make a 130 mile journey from Bournemouth to Kent. There is no Sat Nav in any car that can help you. And that includes Tesla. Plan where you are...
  18. Custom Mod: Painted Front Bumper Vents on Taycan

Buy a car in beautiful Carmine Red and then proceed to wreck it. I hope it wasn't a Turbo S!
  19. 2020 Taycan Turbo vs. Laguna Seca w/Hooked on Driving [Lap Data & Impressions Added]

This is what you need at Laguna! Porsche Rapid Chargers at the circuit at Silverstone UK.
  20. Porsche Ionity card

Charged at Cobham Ionity UK last weekend in my MY2021 and I had to use my card, so I don't think that recognition mechanism is in place yet. Not that it is a great deal to flash a card at a screen. Better than having to use the app which I noticed is a bit of a struggle!
