  1. All new Taycan in 2028 and coexistence with Panamera EV

Ha ha, I wrote that a year ago, but perhaps I was foreshadowing the upcoming tariff wars, ticked off people of a certain political party, etc.
  2. The (expected) ARB7 recall letter comes (my THIRD open recall...)

I just got my ARB7 letter. It says nothing to do for now (no 80% limit) and that they're keeping an eye on my telemetry and will let me know if anything comes up or I have to do anything.
  3. Adaptive Cruise Control

Call Porsche customer service if it's not showing up in the store. I had that problem as well and the folks in Germany had to do something to make the option come up. After that, I got ALK through FOD. But... be known that ALK is absolutely not hands free. It's a driver assist, but it will...
  4. Is Porsche still maintaining the PCM SW for cars older than 2025?

Now that I had done the 2-finger salute reset, I'm learning that Porsche didn't code up the part of the code that reads settings very well. For example, the Nav scale on PCM is showing as km instead of mi. I go into settings and it's set to miles, so what gives? I ended up switching from mi to...
  5. Is Porsche still maintaining the PCM SW for cars older than 2025?

I get that we may not be getting new features, but is Porsche still maintaining this software? While the PCM SW is generally decent, it has stability issues. Every now and then I get the "Map is loading..." hang screen. In fact, I've had it yesterday morning and again this morning. The first...
  6. Range adventure - Attempted 202 miles in an 206 mile (EPA) car...

I'm guessing you were going a lot faster than 65? :)
  7. Ingenious -- or crazy? -- idea to fit Taycan into garage

If you have access to at least 2 spare spots in your garage (e.g. 2-car garage with only 1 car) can you just pull into your garage at an angle? That'll effectively make your car shorter. Also, maybe consider getting something like the Infinity Shield to make sure you don't accidentally close...
  8. ENEL X Way Leaving North America

So based on what I read in another forum, this isn't a big deal if you don't use any features and just plug it in and charge. If so, just use it until it breaks then toss it and buy something like a Tesla Universal. But... if you're doing scheduled charging through the charger, you're SOL...
  9. Range adventure - Attempted 202 miles in an 206 mile (EPA) car...

That makes sense. Energy/fuel consumption generally doesn't increase linearly with speed. That's the reason I chose to stick to the speed limit (65 mph) for my test. I might get more range by going even slower (55 mph?) but at some point a trade-off needs to be made between speed, the time it...
  10. Range adventure - Attempted 202 miles in an 206 mile (EPA) car...

65 mph did make me (uncharacteristically) one of the slowest cars on the 91 that day. To be courteous, I stayed out of the left-most lane except when needing to overtake on the rare occasion of someone going slower (that's also when I sometimes went faster than 65). Being my first long trip, I...
  11. Range adventure - Attempted 202 miles in an 206 mile (EPA) car...

This past weekend, I had planned to do a trip to the Cabazon area... 101 miles each way, so 202 miles total - preferably without charging. My J1 Taycan is EPA rated for 206 miles (standard battery), but I also have the larger 20" wheels so I'm supposed to take a range hit for that. I heard that...
  12. Brake Hose Recall: Porsche Dealer does not return car after service...

Over here, my loaner always seems to be a Macan or a Cayenne. My prior two Porsche's were current-model 911's (991.1 then 991.2) and the most interesting loaner I ever got was a Cayenne GTS.
  13. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

@BigBob Just to close the loop on this. I slept on it to let things calm down then drove around like normal today. While the other body style will be less intrusive, the 1/4" probably won't make much of a difference. In the end, I'd rather not keep fiddling with the panel covers until it...
  14. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

I swapped the included card out as soon as I got home with a Sandisk Extreme endurance card - forgot to touch the cam this morning when I got to work to see if it was as hot as the "free" card.
  15. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

Yeah, I tried to install myself, but didn't like messing with the trim pieces. Ended up going to an installer after I had trouble trying to get the first piece off! Not sure how hard doing it in reverse will be. I noticed that the cam was very hot the first time I used it and I touched it after...
  16. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

Thanks for the pics and measurements! I took one of my own to compare. It's what I see from the driver's seat - roughly the same scale as yours. I'm about 2 inches shorter than you. I'm thinking that the part that I see would be about half as much (1/4") with your cam. As for measurements...
  17. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

Even a 1/4" makes a difference! (works for both the crude and non-crude comment, ha ha) Just out of curiosity, is there any chance you could measure the height of your unit? From the top to the lowest point? I guess that'll be the easiest way to see if I'm making too big an issue of this. -...
  18. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

Yeah, but I wanted the smaller body of the unit in the picture. Imagine the unit you have, but blocking another 1/2" of your window when you're driving. It kind of sucks. The blocking of the view is more annoying to me than the filter issue.
  19. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

OK, update - I managed to get ahold of their tech support... kind of... So it turns out that the 2 units are the same, but with different covers. They say that the internals are the same, otherwise. If you got the one without the vents, the polarization filter is CPL-7708. That's what they...
  20. FitcamX - did they sell me the wrong thing?

Odd, your camera looks like the one that's supposed to be compatible with the CPL-7708 filter.
