I am surprised your insurance company would be OK with him driving. When my son (now 17) got his license, my insurance initially went to almost $1k / month. To get my insurance back down to a semi sane number, I had to commit that he would only drive the Taycan in the case of a medical emergency...
My 2025 has been flawless. I have had it for just shy of a year, and it has yet to go back to the dealer for anything.
That said, the only issues I had with my 2020 were very minor things or software recalls.
I didn't have rear steering on my 2020 Taycan but added it to my 2025 Taycan because I found the car to be a bit large to park without it when I was in tight parking garages.
I had a 2020 4S for about two years, sold it, waited about two years and then got a 2025 Turbo.
The biggest difference for me (aside from the power boost going from 4S to Turbo) is the range increase. I take my Taycan skiing a fair bit. Because it can be quite cold, range suffers. Many of my...
Independent Motors in Boulder has done my tire swap a bunch of times. I too am looking for a place in Denver.
FWIW - I see a lot of 911's at Discount Tires around Denver.
I can definitely relate to some of the stories here.
That said, things are changing quickly.
When I got my first Taycan almost five years ago, I would often pull up at EA and be the only one there for the entire time except for perhaps an ICE vehicle or two. I would struggle to get any of the...
Winter tires will give you way more confidence in the snow. If you can, get winter tires and swap them. Summer tires are going to be treacherous in Chicago during the winter.
I have had two sets of wheels on some cars, but these days I just go with one set of wheels and two sets of tires. Pros...
Thanks. I am going to order one of the gauges that does well in his test and see what happens.
Doing a little more reading, I think one thing that could be playing a factor is that I am at 5,500 feet above sea level. It sounds like different gauges and TPMS are not perfect at altitude.
Also, just to clarify, the pumps are ones that I own. Now that cars don't have spare tires, I keep a small pump in the trunk in each of my cars in case I need to add air in the middle of nowhere. The pumps have digital monitors built in.
Thanks for the feedback. The car is only 4 months old (2025 model) so the TPMS should be good. The two gauges that read 40 PSI are pretty similar to what @Jonathan S. suggested above.
This is a question I have long wondered about. Figured I would get the expertise of this group on it.
I have often seen a significant difference between the tire pressure as measured by my pumps vs my tire pressure gauges vs the TPMS. I am wondering which one to trust. Here is the data from...
I recently got a nail in an almost brand new tire in my 2025 Taycan Turbo. I took it to a very capable tire shop, and we jointly made the call to replace the tire even though it was an easy repair. Because the tire was virtually new, I only had to replace one. Our thinking was that this is a...
We have a 2025 Taycan Turbo so the EV6 is a fair bit slower. That said, it is crazy how quick the mid-level EV6 is. We got it for about $30K after tax credits and discounts. A lot of car for the money although it is in a different league than the Taycan.

Also make sure the phone is near the center stack. When I have it in my left pocket with my keys and wallet, it often won't connect. If I then put it in the cup holder, it connects.
I just love driving the car. It puts a smile on my face almost every time I get in it.
That may be easier for me to say because I have had good luck with my Taycans. I have only had one minor mechanical issue across two Taycans. My issue seemed to be a weird, early issue with the Porsche mobile...
