App outage leaves Tesla owners stranded, unable to start their vehicles

Ford Mach-e has two backup pincodes, one to unlock and one to start sthe car but some owners have discovered that due to another bug the pincode start does not work (pincode start erased on its own for whatever reason). So the Failsafe failed as well.

App outage leaves Tesla owners stranded, unable to start their vehicles

Since we are on the topic, the latest Ford app update seems to break Phone as a Key at some Android phones and some Mach-e owners are left stranded. What is even worse it also appears that the backup pincode to start the car does not always work. It is pretty viral on the Mach-e forum. As I said...

    Electrical failure warning

I meant log the reason of the fault not the fact there was a fault. And of course given a log of the root cause the dealer could either perform a repair or corporate Porsche could fix a software bug. But with the attitude "wait 20 mins and it will be fine" they don't fix the root cause.

    Electrical failure warning

Well, it looks fine, but if it was a red warning it will probably come back and eventually it won't be fine. You might need a new big battery. It is disappointing that the car does not even log the reason of the error message which makes debugging hard for the technician. I had at least 10...

App outage leaves Tesla owners stranded, unable to start their vehicles

NFC would require you to pull the phone out of your pocket and put it next to the car. Ford Mach-e uses phone as a key. I think it uses Bluetooth and it works with both iphones and Androids. In theory it connects to the car as you walk towards it. Moreover the Ford has a numeric keypad hidden on...

How I fixed the door rattles

Glad to hear the new panels work better. Maybe they changed their construction or material. In my case I also had rattles from the driver seat, the B pillar, the speaker grill covers and the instrument cluster. I doubt they would replace or fix all these rattles and my dealer was not very helpful.

First Road Trip Success - Porsche Palooza

The two closest EA locations to my house typically have 1 or 2 stations that are not working. I have reported the problems directly to EA by calling their support number. For one location, I called them once every two weeks. I even spoke to a supervisor. It took them at least 6 months to fix...

    MY22 PCM fault, at delivery

Congrats on the new car. 1-2 weeks for a software fix sounds very optimistic...

How I fixed the door rattles

One month with my Ford Mach-e GT which is also electric and silent and the interior has absolutely no rattles. I am happy I switched cars. I can finally enjoy driving without being annoyed of rattles from every interior trim. I hope Porsche finally addresses the rattles but I doubt it would be...

    Will Porsche address software issues

There is actually an EV in between. It is the Ford Mach-e GT with Performance Package. It drives much better than a Tesla, but not as good as a Taycan. Its software is better than Taycan's and has rare meaningful OTAs but it is not as good as Tesla's. As far as charging network it is the same as...

    Dead Car

The recall update fixed some software issue but there are more issues (both hardware and software) that can still lead to loss of automotive power. When that happens the wheels get locked and they do not free spin. I experienced a software issue like that AFTER the recall was performed but...

I am watching the “sh*t show” that EA is live and in person

Rfid cards are nit only used in Europe. Chargepoint uses rfid cards (or phone NFC) and activation works great every time. Alternatively you can activate from their app but using the card is easier. Maybe EA can learn something from the other companies.

Is this what I think it is? Electrical system error

Rest and restart is the fix for most yellow warnings. But almost everyone who had a red electrical error, eventually ended with a dead car which required some hardware part to be replaced. In some cases restarting appeared to have solved the problem but only for a few days...

Is this what I think it is? Electrical system error

Not the 12v battery because computers and screens are on. However it might be the big battery. Good luck.

Rumor of significant charging issue causing Taycan failures

There is a number of forum members that have reported their cars throwing "Electrical Fault" and eventually needing a new big battery. Porsche has not explained why these batteries failed, so anything is possible. I believe, scrap in this context means the car is lemon-ed because they can't get...

I am watching the “sh*t show” that EA is live and in person

Reliable Plug and Charge solves a lot of problems. It works well for my Ford Mach-e. Yesterday I arrived at a working station that was not showing up in the Charging NA app. If I was with the Taycan I would have to call EA support to initiate charging. But luckily I was my lesser Mach-e and I...

    2020 Taycan 4S vs 2021 Ford Mach-e GT

The Mach-e GT with Performance package has the MagnaRide suspension which is very good. If you get a Mach-E consider that one. I couldn't find one in stock and I did not want to wait 7 months. I am considering ordering one and trade my current GT when the new one arrives but I might wait to see...

    2020 Taycan 4S vs 2021 Ford Mach-e GT

I never had a hardware failure but I experienced a fair number of software bugs. One day it threw 5 different yellow messages and turtle light and it wouldn't move. Lock for 15 mins and restart fixed the issue. That was after AMB5, so the issue with the Computer Engine issue that results in...

    2020 Taycan 4S vs 2021 Ford Mach-e GT

Quick update after driving the Mach-e GT even more. The GT clearly wins in terms of daily practically and its infotainment technology seems better so far. I saw one bug with the trip computer but the Taycan had more bugs and more serious ones. There are several small things that make the daily...

What Brand NEMA 14-50 Outlets to Get or Watch Out For?

Photo of Hubbell ($100) vs Leviton ($10). The difference is very noticeable. If you use Hubbell, make sure - you buy the faceplate with the larger opening lime this - you use a deep electrical box because the Hubbell is much longer - thickest wire it accepts is #6 (Leviton accepts also #4)...
