  1. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

I will share what I hear, and I will just give you a context that I am a professional audio engineer. This is not the quietest BEV I’ve driven. But what I hear is not wind noise. First and foremost I actually hear the front motor, but I like it. It is not that loud, but it definitely gives a...
  2. Taycan fire in Florida garage

As someone who's Tesla Roadster literally melted its entire battery pack when the Power Management unit failed and routed 240 right into the batteries in my garage I will say these things are VERY rare and the batteries are designed with all kinds of fault protection. My Roadster killed its...
  3. Dealer is ready to submit my build, if you've received your Taycan, what do you think?

Well I think it will be hard to answer your question about Taycan vs 911, they are two completely different things. I am not a "Porsche" 911 buyer, but bought the Taycan immediately. On the other hand a true 911 person may not want the Taycan. So ask yourself what about the Taycan excites you...
  4. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

I have some experience with Tesla AP, and the Taycan InnoDrive is definitely is that league but not as “you can do whatever you want” in that it won’t let you just let go. But its ability to hold the road, follow cars, and even prepare for maneuvers while nav is on is very good imo.
  5. Where is the spare tire in the taycan? Is it a full size tire?

Absolutely but I have yet to find this to be the case with low profile/performance tires, because either its a slow leak, where I get a TPMS warning and fill up until I can patch, or it leads to a pretty rapid and catastrophic tear in the sidewall before I can pull over and stop. YMMV.
  6. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

I have heard that if you accelerate fast enough the dirt falls off by itself...
  7. My Gentian Blue Turbo S delivered

I still have it and I really like it a lot. It is incredibly fun to drive, sporty, handles well, and even helped me avoid an accident by being able to easily go up a 45 degree embankment when a car careened in the middle of the road towards me. Its a completely different beast than the Taycan...
  8. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

Thanks I noticed that you do have to enable the Charging planner from Nav settings, but this is good to know. I tried it by pretending to go to a charge via Nav (wasn’t really) and the battery temps started going up, even when the car was parked for a while.
  9. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

I thought I saw gas stations once in the Nav once, I thought I was hallucinating! So its not just me. Quick questoin: how are you using the nav to precondition the battery for a fast charge?
  10. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

Well problem is the unit can not know the “circuit” rating. it can know from the kind of plug what it can handle (like the NEMA 14-50 means 50amp). But it can not tell if you use an adapter and plug it into a 40 amp circuit. If the car (like Taycan) wants 40 amp and it can provide it it will...
  11. Charging Cable attached to the Mobile Connect

The charging cable us swappable, mine Came with 6 foot but supposedly I can order the longer one.
  12. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

That's one thing I REALLY wish it had, ability to set 0, 5 and 10 mph over the road sign when it detects it. Truth is around here no one goes AT speed limit, but 5 or 10 over is rather common,
  13. Turbo S vs Turbo - 80-120kph times

Well one thing is probably true: having the larger inverter the Turbo S can, under software control, boost outputs at any time in short bursts. We know it does it under launch control, but its unclear whether it currently does it under any other heavy acceleration. Not to say this couldn't be...
  14. Resale value, 4S vs Turbo?

Used but at retail and without the $7500 Federal credit, so marked up?
  15. Turbo S vs Turbo - 80-120kph times

I think if that 0.2 seconds is critical in passing a car before I merge back in maybe I should reconsider that decision.... o_O
  16. Does it take more energy to heat or to cool the interior?

With a heat pump it’s the temperature differential that will determine amount of energy. So going from 10c to 20c should be comparable to 30c to 20c. otherwise resistive heating is much more of an energy hit.
  17. Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

Hopefully you limited the current on the mobile charger if the dryer was only 40a circuit.
  18. Taycan information direct from Zuffenhausen plant tour

There are some interesting idea with wireless charging as theory that would be useful and interesting. For example stretches of road that may have wireless charging, but obviously the cost vs return is just not there. Or if you are operating a commercial fleet it may be useful to have a parking...
