First road trip...not simple to say the least. (Long post)

I'm not sure how to pre-condition the battery. I'm assuming you need to select the charger as your destination but I haven't confirmed that. I will say that unless its a 150kW charger or higher, the pre-conditioning probably won't do anything unless your battery was really cold (<50F). In terms...

    Poll: Electrify America Failure Rate

I have tried the local EA charger two more times. First time with the Taycan. I was only able to get 35kW out of the 350kW charger. Not sure what was going on. I didn't try any other chargers as I was in a hurry and just happened to be right by it. Second time was with my Etron. I tried the...

    Tesla Model S Plaid Announcement

Well, that didn't take long. "Performance testing of the #LucidAir platform continues. As we push Lucid's in-house developed EV powertrain tech to new heights, today we share our latest work-in-progress: A 9.245 second 1/4 mile @ 157.26 mph. Stay tuned for more."...

    Aluminium Rhombus Package

It's the standard interior trim. I didn't spec the car. I purchased it off the dealer lot. When I was speccing cars to order I never considered the Rhombus trim. But it really pops when you get into the car. It was the first thing I noticed and it gets a lot of compliments.

California Announces Sales Ban on New Gas Vehicles Starting 2035

I'm torn on a decision like this. Serious changes need to be made to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions. I'm tired of all the debates and lack of action by people who accept anthropogenic climate change as fact. ICEs are obviously a huge contributor. Europe is moving to similar types...

California Announces Sales Ban on New Gas Vehicles Starting 2035

Not to get political......but.... "As residents of the region know well, huge swaths of the American West are federally owned. Nearly 60 percent of the forests in California, 25 percent of the forests in Oregon, and 44 percent in Washington are national forests. For the most part, the forests...

    Taycan 4S First Thoughts

Agreed that soft close doors are missing. Does anyone else regularly not close the door hard enough? For some reason my doors required a pretty decent push to close them. My kids are always leaving them partially closed.

    Tesla Model S Plaid Announcement

The ID.4 just revealed. This is going to hurt Tesla. Starts $10k less than the Model Y and still qualifies for the $7500 tax credit. Very competitive lease rates and 3 years of free charging at EA stations. Yes it's slower, has less range and lacks some of the tech and gimmicks of a Tesla, but...

    Tesla Model S Plaid Announcement

The battery day presentation was about nice incremental improvements in their battery technology and manufacturing processes. Not some huge leap forward that completely disrupts the car market. I'm pretty sure many other battery manufacturers are moving forward with similar progress. Maybe a...

Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) reviews Taycan Turbo

I just had my dealer install window tint on my Taycan today. They gave me a Taycan Turbo loaner. It had 3800 miles on it and had an average overall efficiency of 356 watts / mile. That's pretty damn good for a loaner and car they use for Taycan test drives. That car has probably seen a lot of...

    Tesla Model S Plaid Announcement

They should have revealed a Model S (and X) refresh along with the Model S Plaid. The current Model S is a bit tired and regardless of the insane acceleration and lap times it just doesn't deliver. I have a feeling that the Plaid Model S could be horrible on the road in terms of noise and ride...

Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) reviews Taycan Turbo

He is known as a pretty serious Tesla supporter. He's not an irrational fanboy, but nonetheless a huge Tesla fan. So not that surprising.

Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) reviews Taycan Turbo

Interesting review. His efficiency numbers are hard to believe. I've put 560 miles on my Turbo S so far with an average efficiency of 361 watts / mile. My absolute worst single drive was 449 watts / mile. He claimed that he was seeing 400-500 watts /mile and occasionally 500-600 with hard...

227 mile test run results for upcoming road rally (Taycan Turbo S)

Average was 47 mph. There were several slow spots (Salida, and Canyon City) but otherwise cruising the canyons in the 50-70mph range and the open sections through South Park at 75-80mph.

227 mile test run results for upcoming road rally (Taycan Turbo S)

The screen shot below is approximately the route I took this past weekend. Headed out of Manitou Springs on 24 to Buena Vista, south on 285 to Salida, east on 50 to Canyon City, and then back to Colorado Springs via 115. I'll start a new thread for the actual 5 day road trip and post details of...

227 mile test run results for upcoming road rally (Taycan Turbo S)

Glad to meet another Colorado Springs Taycan owner! I believe electric cars actually perform slightly better at altitude. They don't lose power when the air gets thinner. They do lose a bit of cooling efficiency, but the thinner air also means less drag. Nothing like an internal combustion...

    Taycan 4S First Thoughts

Valid point. In the US we don't have a lot of options for EV's and due to long driving distances Tesla has a major advantage with their charging network. If that advantage goes away then they might struggle. I will say outside of build quality, they still get a lot of stuff right when it comes...

2,400 mile road trip in Taycan 4s - the car finally worked as designed.

So glad to hear this! The EA issues make me nervous but it might just be a case of the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I still plan on voicing an issues I have to Porsche NA and Electrify America. I've bought into their network with two cars now. They better deliver.

Does anyone else with full PPF have a seam like this?

I just had Xpel installed on the full front this week. Below are a couple of pictures. There are seams but they are very small, couple millimeters or less. There are larger seams on corners and complex geometry, but all of the straight sections are very precise. In your pictures it seems odd...
