I'd suggest to check local regulations. Police doesn't always follow logic and will act according the book. If law says the kid has to have a booster or rised seat until age 12 or 110cm height in the back (just an example) then he has to have one no matter where the belt sits. Personal...

That seem reasonable to be honest. I mean, it won't protect one of a large door swing hitting you but looking at my current car doors, I see scuffs and chips. Only one ding in the rear left door and I know who did it (my kid when he was while opening the door and hitting a cement pole :mad:😂)
