While I personally have not experienced this brake failure, I feel the pain of anyone who has.
I think what's happening is this: at certain times of the day (the first drive of the day), Porsche turns off regen braking and instead uses 100% mechanical brakes. It does this to 'bed'' the...
I donāt know about the UK, but in the US there is a law which requires all EVs to have sound (noise) when the car is driven below 15 mph. The sound cannot be turned off.
The law doesnāt state what the sound needs to be, but the intent is to prevent pedestrians from walking in front of silent EVs...
What I find interesting here is that this supercharger station is about 2 miles from the SpaceX HQ and the Tesla design center in Hawthorne. I wonder if the Tesla engineers in Hawthorne are doing some testing with non-Tesla EVs.
I humbly disagree. I ran 2 A/C units in Los Angeles with a pool and a 60 amp circuit for the EVSE on less than 200 amps. You need to run the numbers. Its not hard, but you need to collect the data.
I just looked at the calculations I submitted to the Los Angeles building department. They take...
The best thing is to do a load calculation. You can do this yourself or you can ask an electrical engineer to do it. When I did my last flip, I paid an electrical engineer about $300.- for a load calculation. With two AC units, LED lighting throughout the house, and a gas stove, I was only at...
I'm on my third EV, and I'll never go back to ICE.
First, I love charging at home. Maybe once a month I need to charge at a public charging station and so far the charging stations have worked fine (both with Telsa and EA stations, though I acknowledge that the EA charging network has been...
I have a sharp incline to my driveway. I have the automatic lift set maybe 25 ft from the driveway, but sometimes Iām driving a bit too fast and the lift doesnāt work.
Iād like to see Porsche:
- increase the speed when automatic lift doesnāt work by maybe another 10mph
- add a ācityā mode where...
My two cents:
- figure out how fast you need to charge at home. For example, for home use you can often get away with lower power charging which is normally 220v - 240v at 20 to 40 amps.
20 amps (4.8 kw) gets you a full 85% charge in about 18 hours
30 amps (7.2 kw) gets you a full 85% charge in...
Good idea, but having to pull the card out of my wallet when I want to open the car is a hassle. If you want to use the Tesla 'phone as key', you need to leave the Tesla app running.
I only pull the card out of my wallet when the car fails to open with my iPhone. This happens maybe once a month.
Different story. You said before " You're killing your battery (capacity) by being oversensitive and checking it all the time. "
I am not checking the app "all the time". You can't open the car with your iPhone unless you have the Tesla app running so I leave it running all the time. This is...
Wrong. The only way to eliminate phantom drain is to close the Tesla app on the iPhone. Looking at the Tesla app is not required for the car to experience phantom drain. Simply having the Tesla app running on the iPhone will cause a minimum of 3% phantom drain.
The only time I use the Tesla app...
Sorry, but that's not how the Tesla app works. Just having it running on my iPhone causes phantom drain. I rarely check the Tesla app. And I have sentry mode turned off (due to extreme phantom drain).
I keep the Tesla app running on my iPhone so I can open the car doors. If the app is closed...
People complain about Y/3 phantom drain all the time on the Tesla forums. A couple of them:
https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/battery-loss-when-parked.287948/...
Just for comparison sake, with my long range Tesla model Y, in the winter Iām getting 127 miles from 85% down to around 20% when I recharge. I end up charging about twice a week in the winter.
One issue with the Tesla is phantom drain: the car loses around 3% per day sitting idle. So if you...
There are better and much less expensive EVSEs out there than the PMCC. The 'old' (current?) PMCC is throttled to 50% of its 40 amp rated charging current (most likely due to a defective power cable or connector).
I have a Juicebox 40 which I paid $250 after a rebate. Like the PMCC, the...
I just posted this response to a European charging question, but this should help you as well. I donāt use the EVSE which came with my Taycan, but I believe in North America the Porsche EVSE is limited to 20 amps (please check since I donāt know for sure).
You will need to get an electrician to...
