...If your pass is active and you've not consumed your allowance for the month then logically it should just work. It could be down for other reasons - Verizon / others - I have no clue.
I don’t believe that’s true. Especially since it was working before when Apple Music and podcasts were, and I’ve never had data pass premium.
There is a facebook post on this problem and the op mentioned that data pass premium didn't fix the problem:
YouTube and similar services will require the separate data service / package from Verizon (or Vodafone) and are not normally part of the standard Porsche Connect service.
Spotify & Apple Music / Podcasts use data from the standard Porsche Connect service.
...and additional data package eg for streaming services, sharing data using the car's WiFi service for mobile devices. This uses the secondary SIM when you sign up for the (exprnsive) service (Vodafone / Verizon).
Standard Porsche Connect services (includes data) are renewable upon their expiry.
Weather always takes a while. Those services use a ultra low speed telemetry connection most likely provided by Verizon but separate from the Data Package included in Porsche Connect and seems to be the main service that is borked and has been for a couple weeks now.
...online. To my knowledge the only services that use that plan are those streaming services. The others use a lower speed mobile service (from Verizon in the US). Things like Weather, News etc. The SOS and breakdown call use old fashioned 2g/1x mobile voice services. Not sure what the control...
:) One could think so. But News and Weather still work (low-data apps, but still fueled by the 4G signal AFAIK) while the 'greyed out apps' seem to be deactivated in some way, maybe no longer having proper access TO the cell signal. It's weird. But almost certainly seems to be a back-end issue...
ChatGPT (I know this could be wrong) says, at least in the US, that you'll get 5G (where supported by Verizon) if you subscribe to the enhanced data plan.
Anyone have that, that can confirm?
...hotspot firewall unless you use WhatsApp or FaceTime calling). But at least google maps works then which for me was more important. I have Verizon but have also tried t-mobile and it didn’t make a difference for me. YMMV. My 2020 had a repeater in the center storage (though I never used...
Interesting. I'm in South Florida w/Verizon and definitely have cell issues. It's most apparent when I try to use Maps or Waze directly on the phone. At times, I have to hold the phone to the hatched areas in the windshield to get the signal through.
...a booster, but no insolated glass in it, on my GTS with the thermal glass there is defiantly an impact on signal with both Tmobile, AT&T and Verizon, especially when the car is parked
On the Audi RS etron GT there is less impact and there the insolated glass is standard or part of the carbon...
If there is an issue (haven't noticed a problem myself) it could affect higher frequencies. The US carriers are mostly using 700MHz outside cities (low frequency) which might explain why US folks don't report issues. Higher frequencies are used for 5G in dense areas but if your phone falls back...
I am building a 4S and would like head up display but you have to get insulated glass. (Build code: PT85GQJ3). I’m hearing concerning things about cell phone reception being impacted. I have Verizon, live in Atlanta, and travel through Southeast US. Thank you for sharing.
