Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

Well, I’ve been quarantined and Sheltered in Place for two weeks since my trip. I guess I’m safe, and I managed to stay one step ahead of (and six feet away from) trouble. Which also means I’m not Donny CoronaSeed, aka patient Zero, spreading coughs wherever I go. I hope you all are staying...

It’s an excellent example of the basic difference between Journalism and Blogging. One involves original research and facts. The other is scraping other people’s content and reposting without understanding or care, for the purpose of click-thru.

Oh, that’s hilarious! It’s like a game of telephone where it gets more and more wrong as it goes around the net. I’ve gotta go ask my mom how she’s liking her sudden move to Hawai’i. <grabs popcorn >

Bugs & Feature Requests - Results of 11,000 miles of driving

Excellent idea! I also passed the list to the regional trainer. Yes, STRs. I started calling them bugs in the (cough) 80s... and never really stopped. The profession has changed quite a bit over the decades, but it certainly hasn’t gotten any easier given the incredible complexity of modern...

Taking One Lap of the Country in my Taycan Turbo - 10k miles in 6 weeks Cross-Country Journal

Laughing my ass off. A writer from Motor Trend approached me, wanting to write a story about my trip. He wanted me to send him photographs to go with the story. So, out of respect and admiration of their normal excellent photo quality, I sorted through the “good photos” I took with my Nikon...

Pros & Cons after 24 hours With My Taycan Turbo – By Owner

Side Note: When pulling up to a Charging Station, you'll want to fully power off the car (Press & Hold the power button for 3 seconds). Some Charging Stations will fail to charge the car if the "ignition" is ON. Most Charging stations don't care, but some do. If a DC Fast Charger fails to...

    Porsche Connect App rant

Your profile is set to "minimum charge 85%". Therefore regardless of preferred charging time settings, it will bring the charge up to 85%. Then wait until Preferred Time to further charge. Seems to be "behaving as designed" in that respect. Slow? Yup. It definitely is. Profile name in...

No rear camera. This was a last-minute addition, added the day before I took off on the trip. The wires aren't easy to hide. I used a 6 foot long USB-C to USB-Mini cord. Stick-on wire clips attached to glass or hard plastic guided the cord. The route was up the windshield, then up to the...

OK. Fine. I'm gonna need more micro-SD cards. Like a hundred more. I'll be right back... in a couple of months... ...Oh, wait. Sorry, the US to Canada border is now closed. I cannot repeat this trip. OK, here's what you do: Play the video. Slow it down to 1/300th speed. Watch. That...

That’s it. That’s all that was captured. Except for some boring footage in garages. (albeit in higher quality)

I think it remembers for a limited period of time. For instance, if you stop for Dinner, it will probably remember. If you park overnight, it will forget. Note: I have not tested this... and given the apparent randomness of what the Nav remembers and what it forgets, I can't be sure of these...

I believe this was asked for... So, since you are all "Sheltering-In-Place" and really bored at home, allow me to take you on a drive in my Taycan Turbo, at 7,333 Miles per hour. (That is, 11,000 miles in 1 hour and 30 minutes). Here's the YouTube of a Time-Lapse of my drive, capturing a frame...

Bugs & Feature Requests - Results of 11,000 miles of driving

Yes, I printed a copy of that charge capacity matrix and was carrying it in the door pocket! :) Jalopnik had it in the Detailed Tech article about the Taycan. I really want to find the rest of that matrix. Down to -10°C, up to 45°C, and up to 100% SoC. Someday... Dear Porsche...

I drove 10 miles yesterday. Delivered the check to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. The other checks were mailed out yesterday. I did not recharge. Then I sat on the couch with my cats and watched movies while sheltering-in-place. (most boring status update... ever)

Bugs & Feature Requests - Results of 11,000 miles of driving

re: Louv-14: I'd also love for the car to tell me what the max expected charge rate is, so that I can determine if the Charging Station is having a problem. Example: Battery Temp: 89°F, SoC: 29%. Expected Charge Rate: 150kW. Charging Station giving me only 47kW. How do I report a...
