Keep track of your 12V battery with the Ancel BM200

Good note Peter. Dee said - "With a LiFePO battery, the voltage is a very good indication of SoC." No it is not. It is a poor indication of SoC. LiFePO's and Li ion are both similar in the voltage v SOC curve as indicated in your diagrams Peter. They are principally the same shape but the...

Porsche App not connecting after 12V failure

James, that is interesting! They uploaded the high voltage software in November so perhaps it is something to do with that. I was only parked outside the house and the AA turned up in 20 mins so no hassle. I'll see if happens again. Andy

Porsche App not connecting after 12V failure

Thanks both. Yes there was a decent LTE connection but not re-connecting. However, by late evening, 8hrs after the event, it all of a sudden started working again without intervention. All back to normal now so thanks for the help. Problem sorted.

Porsche App not connecting after 12V failure

Hi All, Not been on the forum for a while, but needs must. Well with all the flu going round and Christmas and all that, the car (2022 Taycan turbo) has been driven around 5 mins a week for the last month and so with the sub zero temps in Scotland last night, the 12V battery (and hence the car)...

    Porsche Charging Service

Chargers in Scotland, north of the central belt are few and far between. Sitting on a fast charger overnight is not the thing to do. What possessed you to do that? It's bad enough to do that in areas where there are lots of chargers - but up here? No. Sorry but that earns you my 'Plonker of the...

All 4 of my handles started squeaking on lock and unlock (coming out and retracting) yesterday. Sounds like rubber rubbing against something.

I've got the noise from the rear drivers side door handle. Quiet loud squeak as I drive off and the doors lock (2021 Turbo). Been there for over a year. I've got used to it. Maybe I'll ask them to have a look at it when it goes if for its next battery therapy session. ......and the drivers door...

Advice from current owners sought - New or Old

I'd go for the 2024 model. 3 of us in our company have Taycans, all 2021 vintage. Mine's only been in once for a suspension issue (£6000 of repair under warranty) plus twice for re-calls, but the other two seem to be in every 3-6 months for various problems. Don't get me wrong, this is the best...

Is my Taycan 4s CT range normal? Seems way too low

Chun, if you were responding to my post, over the last 6 weeks we have had overnight temps between -5 and +3°C (until it warmed up on Thursday!) and most mornings the battery was showing 1 or 2°C. The car is parked outside and open to the cold easterly wind Scotland has endured since early...

Is my Taycan 4s CT range normal? Seems way too low

If most of your driving is 20 mins to work and back at -4 to +5°C, then I think your range is normal. I do the same sort of driving (not plugged in a night) and get the same range. The car is heating up for those 20 mins - twice a day - so that hugely affects range. If you are doing a 2 hour...

Restoring a Taycan after prior unknown damage

I think the majority of people on here will have zero understanding of the problem or the photographs and its cause. What was the problem and what do you think you have found?

    Battery deterioration

That's the range I get in my Turbo with the big battery. The 250 is for motorway driving at 70mph. I can squeeze 300 mile if I drive at 50 mph all the time. I would therefore think you will be getting 10-15% less with the smaller battery if it was in good health. ....but..... with the weather...

Porsche Charging Card - av cost was £1.15 per kW!

The best thing about this post is that Stafford services, Northbound finally has its 350KW chargers working!!!! That plugs a gap between the M6 toll and jnct 18. Way to go. I gave up my Porsche charging card as it didnt work at Ionity Carlisle (but does at Stafford - but that's always too...

Do I need Porsche connect to check battery level?

I fully agree. If you are paying £100K for a car (and far more in dollars!!!!) then it seems daft to forgo £240 for what is quite useful stuff. Yes its a pain. Yes Porsche are ripping us off but that is the price of owning the best EV in the world (despite multiple recalls and time without the...

Taycan Charging Speeds on UK Chargers

It is certainly one of the best services on the motorway network but its a magnet for all the Teslas. As it serves both northbound and southbound, the Tesla chargers get busy even with the extra capacity put in the last few years. Tesla drivers just dont seem to use any of the other chargers...

Taycan Charging Speeds on UK Chargers

First off, I wouldnt worry about loosing the Tesla network. I worried about this after 4 years of Tesla ownership before I got my Taycan but it is a not worth the worry. I live in a similar location to you and spend lots of time driving down the M6/M40. In the old days it was a first stop at...

Porsche Taycan Turbo vs. MB G580 (Electric G-Wagon) - Video & In-Depth Comparison

I'm not convinced with the Mamba Green. When I first went to look at a Taycan (Aug '23), the car in question was a Mamba Green. My wife immediately said "we're not buying that'. We bought the nice silver (with blackberry interior)Taycan Turbo standing next to it instead. Beautifull! £10K more...

Porsche Taycan Turbo vs. MB G580 (Electric G-Wagon) - Video & In-Depth Comparison

G Wagon. Seriously Effect on Society In the event of a pedestrian walking out in-front of the car doing 20 mph (like in all the villages in East Lothian), with a front end like that, the G Wagon is lethal. Porsche Taycan Turbo 11. Front bumper low enough to try and mitigate impact damge to...

Charging advice for daily use of Porsche Taycan 2024 Performance Battery

Good advice from Tophamn and W1nge above. For ultimate battery life, keep it out of the voltage knees top and bottom and that will significantly reduce the need for balancing. Then again, W1nge is right, we have an 8 year warranty so not much to worry about. When you need to do a long run then...

Porsche collects OTA battery diagnostic info - Questions

Tooney, Very intersting thread. Great to see Porsche actually doing something. To answer your questions, we first need to know why the batteries are suffering from short circuits, which obviously we dont. We can guess. Short circuits normally happen only when the cells are fully charged (ie at...

How can I delete a thread?

I had this issue a few months ago. The Porsche assist guy who turned up reckoned it was a bad sensor on the front right suspension unit and tried to fix it. Cleared the error and it was OK but the Porsche service centre told me to bring it in as they suspected a hardware issue. Turned out it...
