Why does charging "eat money". In most cases it is cheaper to charge a Taycan and drive it 200 miles than it is to fuel a Panamera and drive it the same distance. Paying for "fuel" (electricity) isn't the issue, it's the charging inconvenience to the OP.
I don't know why anyone who doesn't have...
I don't know what this means. Can you install a L2 charger in your building? If you can, just do so and charge at home. If you can't you made two bad choices. (1) you overpaid for the car - (there is depreciation and then there is depreciation) and (2) You bought an EV without a charge at home...
Sentry mode? Who cares who did it? The idea is to avoid body dents not chase the person who inflicted them. Just park farther away from other cars, or take your wife's car to the mall - she could probably care less about door dings. :)
One day EVs will have that capability or the world will move on to hydrogen powered cars or something else). I think people want to be able to go where they want to go without being limited by an inability to refuel (recharge) when they need to.
I remember driving a diesel 3/4 ton pickup...
This is why I'll sitting on the sidelines for now. I am also in Canada, but on the prairies where winter temps (overnight) can be -35C (-30F). The early adopters around here seem to be physicians, buying all different makes of EVs, but all complaining about the same thing - poor winter range...
I agree. That camera is way too low. I don't know why OEM manufacturers (including Porsche) can't come up with a camera integrated into the back of the rear view mirror that is adjustable independent of the mirror with integrated power. I'd pay $1,000 for that option, but if this is what you get...
I'm a bit confused by your post (but enjoyed it). The first several paragraphs compare your prior experience with Taycan 4S and Turbo and saying that once you get past the acceleration, there isn't much emotion in an EV compared to the ICE vehicles you have (I agree with that by the way). But...
I know, right? Those Ukrainians are being bombed to death and while huddling in the cold dark bomb shelters all they can think about is "how are we going to get the Americans their Porsches??"
Forget that, look at the cost of the electricity! I’m wondering about the EV value proposition when gas is 1.42 Euro a liter. The routing shows 7 stops and adding up the EV charging costs, it looks to be about 250 Euro, but you can drive a Panamera the same distance without any lengthy fuelling...
Looks fantastic. I really like the color. I'd love to order one but I have no idea if the back seat will be suitable for our family of 4. At 5'8", When you get a chance, do you mind taking some pictures of the rear seat area and footwell with the driver's seat set up for a driver under 5'10"...
Can you share the MSRP of your build and it’s residual value and interest rate? Problem is with 27k in extras, part of the lease is above the MRM so you are paying 100% of the cost of those option over the 36 months. In that case, it’s probably better to just buy the car.
Resale value? That’s an interesting thought. I think as early adopters of an EV car and especially with a Porsche EV which I would expect to see a steep curve of enhancements and improvements for the first 5 years, I suspect resale values will be pretty poor regardless of which battery pack you...
There is a link on the forum to a study which shows that fast charging has more effect on battery degradation than miles driven or the number of charges, so I wonder if that will also be a problem for Taycan or maybe Porsche has somehow worked this out?
Looking at the graph, the degradation...
Tesla’s has a higher EPA range but it’s “gimmick” is its 0-60 times. I’m not sure what the obsession is with comparing a 0-60 time of 3.4 vs 2.4? I’m more interested in the complete driving experience, customer service, dealer availability and having someone to talk to when you have a problem...
I don't think all of the calculating and extrapolating gives us the real answer. I'm waiting for a couple of guys, one with a Model S and one with a 4S (large battery) to get onto the same freeway, at the same time with the same SOC and just drive at 70 mph and wait to see how far each car can...
Interesting. There is so much we don’t know yet about what real world experiences will be like with a Taycan. I live in the Canadian prairies where winter overnight lows can average -22C (-8F) to -30C (-22F). While I park in a heated garage, so charging won’t be a problem, I wonder about range...
