Sadly, I am surprised.
After sitting in storage for two months, my 2020 Taycan Turbo w/ 6100 miles recognized my approach and started right up on its infamous 12V battery.
I was sure the 12V battery would die after two months. It died before like many of you as my daily driver. When I brought...
Sorry to hear this! Thanks for the heads up guys.
Is there any way we can try to reproduce the slide away in a safe manor? and video tape? I would try here in Boston, but there isn’t any snow.
Right, that makes sense as a Li-on battery charges much faster than a Ni-mh battery. And logic suggests that neither the speed, weight, nor capacity of the 12V would matter if the plug-in charger for the traction battery would also charge the 12V aux battery at the same time, but for some...
In a general google search for “dead 12v electric car,” seems like every manufacturer is plagued with some derivative of this issue. I have to say, I do like Hyundai’s answer with an emergency 12V battery connect switch [to the propulsion battery].
The fact that every EV brand including Tesla...
Big battery charges little battery when you’re driving.
EDIT: Sorry misread your post. Yes, if your big battery is near dead, and driving isn’t an option, then that’s def a catch 22 scenario.
What I gather from reading the manual is that there are differences between the “Parking Lock” and the ”Electric Parking Brake.” My understanding is that the Parking Lock is with the electric motor, which is susceptible to rolling. And the “Parking Brake” which is only activated by pressing the...
Sorry to hear about these two snow Taycan runaways. Thanks for the heads up.
Something to consider: Several years ago when I owned a Model S P85D, I wasn’t able to stop coming to a light after driving in snow. It scared the heck out of me. I kept slamming on the brake pedal until finally the...
Update: Got my March Delivery 2020 Taycan Turbo back from the dealer after 3 weeks 12V issue. The remedy prescribed to me is a new Porsche Mobile Charger. Apparently, there is a setting in my charger that keeps my Taycan awake, thus draining the battery. My dealer had the Porsche mobile charger...
I think Porsche will have a handle on this 12V by April. They’ve been working on it, I assume, for a few months now.
The 12V jump procedure is pretty easy after the first time. And the good news is, once the Taycan is on, the main traction battery will charge the 12V and everything feels merry...
I think I read everyone’s comments on this 12V mystery both on this forum and taycanevform.com.
I am confident that Porsche is working on it.
I am confident that Porsche will fix it.
In the mean time, I bought a portable battery jumper to keep in my trunk.
Absolutely love the car, just trying...
Took delivery of my Taycan Turbo in March 2020. No issues until 5000 miles, then poof - Dead 12V battery. Dropped off the Taycan 2 weeks ago at the dealer. Monday will be week 3 without my car. Driving a mighty 2.0L Macan Base model loaner - not a bad little thing, but missing my Taycan.
LOL. I was hearing the same accent.
In response to @tigerbalm, I agree. What's the use of the small door if the big door gets jammed on it and water floods in? I think there's a better design solution here.
My 2020 Taycan Turbo 12V died. Took delivery in March. Similar case: Plugged in to Porsche mobile charger with 59% SoC, profile set to 85% by 4:30 am, dead upon arrival next morning.
Thanks for this thread! Helped a lot getting my Taycan going in an underground parking lot.
My Taycan has been...
Saw a locked Taycan Turbo S yesterday with its DC charge port open.
With our nor’easter coming, I figured I’d close it for the owner.
I suspect this happens often: DC lid stays open and the electronic door jams and won’t close.
Perhaps Porsche, we can install a spring on the DC flap to close...
