    Welcome to Normal Depreciation

I think this is dead on. You can add up to 50% of your cars sale price in options with a Porsche, and when I see sticker sheets for 2020/2021 4S models on the used market now, most had between 20-40% of their selling price coming from options. If you look at E-tron GT prices, they haven't...

    Hate for electrics saddens me.

This right here is a quote of experience. A lot of folks against EVs have never tried them. It's like your kid that refuses to try to eat something because "they don't like it", but have never tasted it. Eventually they try it and realize they had been missing out the whole time. I have...

    Dealer trade in values

Not surprising at all to see higher trim, higher optioned Taycans bite the bullet hardest. This is historically a trend in higher end sedans and the depreciation seems to be on point for what historic norms are. I think too many people forgot what a normal market was like over the pandemic...

    Taycan Re-sale

Not sure in the UK, but in the U.S. most dealers will just outright buy the car if you wish to go that route, but you often will take a bath on what they end up buying it for. Stories abound of recent Taycan buyers in similar circumstances getting out of their recent purchase and being offered...

My Dolomite Silver Porsche Taycan 4S

Love the dolomite. Such a clean look and even when dirty, still looks fantastic. Your overall spec is just fantastic. I was so torn between Dolomite when I got my Cherry Metallic CT4. Happy with my decision, but definitely eyeing the color when we buy a Taycan next summer for my wife.

    What was your handover like

Maybe stingy? I only have 2 dealers to compare, but when I bought my first Porsche, a 718 Boxster S, there was very little fanfare. It was during peak covid, but I sat in the dealer for nearly 2 hours waiting for financing (after having done 90% of the leg work remotely due to COVID), and when...

How well does Taycan handle hot climates?

It stays in the low 90's most of the time and in general feels like it works less hard than my previous 2013 Model S, 2018 Model X, or current 2020 Model 3 does when out and about in really hot temps. I doubt these batteries will have any longevity issues. This was a huge knock on buying EVs...

How well does Taycan handle hot climates?

I live in West Texas, where weeks of 100+ degree weather are a norm in the summer, my CT4 also sits outside in a large hospital parking lot for long hours during my work week. About 10 minutes before I head home for the day, I will have the car fire up the AC, and that's really all it takes...

Can't work out if a Taycan is worth it for me?

I initially owned a 4S Taycan before switching over to a CT4 and have really loved the added practicality of the CT4 without sacrificing much of the fun. My family consists on my wife and I, as well as an 8 years old and 18 month old. I've owned the CT4 since the youngest was a newborn and...

Video: "Porsche Taycan Prices are Collapsing"

Nor should you. I love this car. I have owned 2 and next summer will likely purchase a 3rd for my wife. The video isn't really a commentary on the Taycan itself but on the used car market as a whole. For a while used cars were selling for more than new depending on the model. It's basically...

Video: "Porsche Taycan Prices are Collapsing"

Is anyone really surprised? The bubble had to burst eventually, and used luxury sedans historically seem to take the biggest hits in value. 2020's are going to get really cheap (relatively), especially non CPO, as their factory warranty expires in the next year. There's a good chance we see...

20" vs 21" ride quality difference

You sum up my experience. I too went with the 20" wheels for range/price/aesthetic reasons, but still found the ride quality of the 21" wheels to be fine. It definitely is a little harsher on rougher roads but still overall a very smooth ride.

    Range changed

This is about 140 miles presumably at higher than average speeds and outside temps around 0-5 degrees Celsius. These combined will likely lower the estimated range temporarily. If you push the car, you will quickly learn that in the real world, the car will exceed that range. When I took in...

CT alarm issue, how common is it?

Good to hear. Is this going to be fixed as part of a recall?

"Can EV chargers act like gas stations? That won’t be easy" Article

Great points, but ultimately it will be market demand. I guess I should rephrase it in that I think there will be more individualized chargers basically anywhere and everywhere, but a centralized gas station model will likely become unnecessary with the exception of very fast chargers...

Remote Park Assist on MY22 cars

I used it a couple of weeks ago when in a narrow parking garage. Worked fine.

"Can EV chargers act like gas stations? That won’t be easy" Article

That really stinks. I've coast to coasted a few times and haven't experienced what you have. I guess chargers from LA to Florida on the I-10 corridor are in better shape or serviced by a superior company than where you are in New England. Often there might be a charger or two down at a few...

Winter 2021 road trip to Scotland

Edinburgh has to be one of my favorite cities on earth, and Scotland one of my favorite places. Beautiful scenery, incredible hospitality, great locally made ales and spirits, and friendly locals. Tough to ask for more on a holiday. Really loving this trip report. I did a similar Scotland...

"Can EV chargers act like gas stations? That won’t be easy" Article

They definitely have one, but their timeliness on the repairs is questionable. I've noticed the more remote the location, the longer it stays down, which I guess makes sense, but is frustrating. I will say that at least EA thus far has arguably the best customer service experience of just...

"Can EV chargers act like gas stations? That won’t be easy" Article

Definitely agree with all of the above. I think location especially dictates your EV experience. I live in West Texas and travel along I-10. EV's are not as dime a dozen as the West Coast and some areas of the East Coast here. I've literally road tripped across Texas on the EA network...
