Dumb Mistake: Air in ABS System

Yes - bleeding brakes or flushing the fluid is totally a DIY-possible process (provided you don't get air in). This adventure did not need to happen. Porsche does use DOT 4 fluid. One DIY note - if you are hoping to completely flush out old fluid, you will not be able to flush it all. Some will...

    Will Porsche address software issues

There is a recuperation mode control button on the steering wheel - left side, below the assignable button. If you have the Sport Chrono package, you can also configure the default recuperation mode for your individual drive configuration and it is saved for you.

    2022 Taycan's quality?

There is a recovery sequence for a dead 12V battery published in the Porsche Good to Know app. If you aren't comfortable carrying out the operations, or are missing things needed, a tow truck driver should be able to do it. You still want to get it into Porsche though. The software cause of dead...

Can someone recommend a dealer in the US that won’t gouge on a turbo S order?

I bought my Turbo from Euroclassics in Richmond, VA late 2019 at MSRP. I don't know if they are now asking over MSRP, and of course there is the question of can you get an allocation, but I can say they were great to deal with.

Tire pressure / winter tires / tire noise

As a reminder, the pressures on the door label are for full load. If it's just you, go for the partial load pressures. Anywhere between the two is fine though.

    Brake calipers and wheels

Taycan is very heavy and you will not have a lot of rubber protecting the wheels on a 22". Potholes will not be kind.

Incorrect GPS position - anyone had this fun new Taycan electronics problem?

GPS problem and connectivity problems have been resolved. Interestingly, the dynamic interior lighting option had always been grayed out in my car. I assumed it only worked with Apple Music (and that may be the case). However it was no longer grayed out for Bluetooth after the central computer...

    12V Battery

What I think I know is that the 12V battery is charged while the vehicle is on (stationary or driving). It does NOT appear to be charged while actively charging. However, if you look carefully at the charging log of a long session on a PMCC, you will see periods where the vehicle stops consuming...

    Home charger

PMCC is a nice unit, albeit large, heavy and expensive. The advantage is that you can control the charging current advertised which is great when you travel with it to places where the utility power may not be rock solid. Disadvantage is that the NEMA 14-50 cable is higher gauge copper so it...

    12V Battery

Taycan is mostly the same - most things except for drivetrain and portions of the HVAC are powered by the 12V battery. It's smaller so it will drain more quickly.

hmmm - my lovely Taycan is limited to 220 miles range - [Edit] I think it's the tires…

I bet you center in around 180 miles at 85% in the winter - except on the coldest days IL can throw at you. Based on one year of winter ownership of a Turbo with 21" wheels in [the albeit significantly warmer more southern latitude of] NC.

    Tesla opened up in Netherlands

Did Porsche handicap the Taycan, or see an opportunity for yet another profit item...?

hmmm - my lovely Taycan is limited to 220 miles range - [Edit] I think it's the tires…

Regenerative recovery of kinetic energy is the #1 efficiency gain of a hybrid or electric drivetrain. In Taycan, when you slow down, the first 260 kW equivalent of deceleration is provided by the electric motor. However no conversion of energy is 100% efficient - so accelerating then slowing...

Try not to get a flat tire… backordered

Fully agreed - that's why I put "conventional wisdom" in quotes. I did find (compliments of a very proactive parts guy at Foreign Cars Italia - a.k.a. Porsche Greensboro in NC) that the tire dealers are holding back Porsche NF0 spec tires for Porsche dealers - given a VIN, you can get tires...

Got a flat tire on your Taycan? Here's what to do

Not an option unfortunately if you have PCCB or PSCB - but good suggestion otherwise!

2021 April Software update results - 2020 Taycan Turbo

Switch to kWh/100 miles. Pre-update, I also had an issue (can't confirm the two were definitely related), where somehow the car lost part of the input data for the Mi/kWh calculation and the range mode calculation forced me to 55 mph max. Not a problem - just turned off range mode - but I've had...

Try not to get a flat tire… backordered

What's worse, if there is significant wear you will need at least two tires. If you have 4WD, you will be hit with the "conventional wisdom" that you need four tires or Porsche will invalidate your drivetrain warranty. While this may have made sense in ICE cars where the front and rear are...

Incorrect GPS position - anyone had this fun new Taycan electronics problem?

Fast forward to today and my GPS position is off by over 200 miles. It seemed to wander a few miles to the Southeast every time I started the car, and the error is cumulative. After a lot of discussion with PCNA, the Taycan tech is not convinced the Connect communications module is going to fix...

Dumb Mistake: Air in ABS System

FWIW, I had no issues at the track after the dealer completed the procedure. Good to know that between the design of the system and the computer control (via PIWIS only) of the valves, they can get all the air bubbles and old fluid out. Expensive lesson learned. That computer control of the...

hmmm - my lovely Taycan is limited to 220 miles range - [Edit] I think it's the tires…

It does - less use of regen = less range. This will go away around 500 miles. Colder battery = less range.
