It is designed to be "off" (Taycan logo only) if there is no passenger in the seat. If someone claims that it stays on once the car is in motion with nobody in the seat, then the sensor is not working properly (or some other "bug"). And yes, it can be turned off completely.

If you're concerned about the look of crayon/chalk in the sun, then avoid it. I had the same experience when looking at a 911 some time ago. LOVED the look in the showroom, then saw one outdoors at the PEC Atlanta and didn't even recognize it as the same color. To me, looks like a light gray...

The pattern in the Taycan is the same as the 992 911s, except that it is mounted on the dash (like the 918 Spyder) rather than the console. Up/forward for reverse, down/back for drive, with separate button for park. Cayenne and Panamera are the same but with more of a traditional "shifter"...

In "normal" times those changes wouldn't cause a delay, and I suspect they wouldn't now prior to freeze point. Those are pretty minor changes. And Porsche is not looking for an excuse to delay your production... if it was "delayed" they would just be plugging another car into your slot...
