ACC definitely works all the way down to a complete stop, and if you are only stopped for a few seconds, it will also start you right back up again. If you are stopped more than a few seconds, you have to touch the throttle briefly to resume ACC.
ALK normally requires some steering input every...
Something is wrong if this is true and not an exaggeration. I get >200 miles at 85% with no preconditioning (but with a garage) in sub-freezing temperatures.
Had my update done last week and picked the car up on Saturday. I won't repeat what's doubtless been said many times before about the specifics. Instead I'll state the most surprising thing about the update (to me): I find myself using the PCM more than CarPlay. Don't get me wrong: CarPlay is...
My car is frozen blue because I felt all the other colors* were way too conservative, and the interior is limestone beige because I used up all my courage picking frozen blue for the exterior. If I'd been a little braver I would've gone with chalk for the interior. (Though my wife's e-tron has a...
I concur without comment on 1, 3, and 5.
I concur on 2, with caveats. My experience is that Audi's ALK equivalent is considerably more reliable than Porsche's. I'd be worried that a softer touch on the wheel might be dangerous on the Taycan, while it's wonderful on the e-tron.
I'm neither for...
The Sto-n-Sho does not require drilling holes on the Taycan. NH law requires only that the front plate be "securely mounted ... in a visible location" for cars which, like the Taycan, do not come from the manufacturer with a mounting location. So the Sto-n-Sho is perfectly legal in NH.
I got pulled over literally the day after I put my permanent plates on. The cop was very obviously looking for an excuse not to write me a ticket, and when I provided him one by installing the front plate I'd kept in my frunk, he let me go immediately.
Everyone in NH hates the front plate...
I wouldn't plug anything that could conceivably be a drain hole. Even if you only reduce the size of the opening, it still increases the chances that leaves or pine needles will get in there and block it completely. Then you've got wet decomposing organic matter in an area that's out of sight...
If you take it off to wash your car, put it in the frunk. Then when you forget to put it back on and get pulled over for not having a front plate, you can go put it on to get out of a ticket.
Ask me how I know.
Yes. It's probably even less than 20 seconds.
My preferred way of using ALK is basically to steer the car, letting ALK handle the constant small adjustments necessary to go in a straight line. The slight pressure of my hands against the wheel when ALK is making those small corrections means I...
There's a really interesting paper on improvements in battery tech:
https://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/2021/ee/d0ee02681f
It's a lengthy read, and rather technical, but it's got some nice charts that are pretty approachable to laymen.
In short, though, there hasn't been much...
People keep saying that, but I've yet to see a single EV rendered obsolete by technological evolution, and they've been widely available for more than a decade now.
I voted for 8 years but I'm honestly not sure. It depends on how much the Taycan actually gets used as a family car. If we always use the Audi for family outings, I may end up going to an electric 718 when that comes out. But if the Porsche gets regular use now the weather's nicer, I imagine I'd...
If executed well, this is actually a really clever idea. It gives dealerships a reason to continue to exist.
The problem is that, in the US, dealerships are seldom located in desirable locations. They are located alongside busy, multilane roads with zero crosswalks, in clusters of car...
Learned about this update when I dropped my car off this morning to get my second key. (Still no wireless charge module...) No difference that I can see. I didn't even lose my settings, for a wonder.
Something weird is going on with charging in our house.
First things first, last Saturday we got a second EVSE installed (our other EV is an e-tron). Both are the same: Wallbox Pulsar Plus. They are both hardwired to the same 60A circuit. I believe they are set up correctly. The electrician...
