I don't ever see any Taycans in the wild where I live, and I can't get my wife to drive anything bigger than her Mini Cooper. The instant effortless torque to get you away from other traffic is definitely addicting and hard to live without now.
MY 20, T4S+ w/ 20" Turbo Aero Wheels, all season tires. Driven only in summer temps (60-80 degrees F) so far since collection in June of this year. Mix of interstate travel and local commute.
Great idea for a thread, wish I'd seen this sooner.
Not sure if anyone posted this already, but insideevs.com has a great article up now on battery degradation:
How Much Range Does an Electric Car Lose Each Year? (insideevs.com)
They go into some interesting discussion on the benefits of preconditioning as well as the other techniques.
A lot of my travels take me to some rural areas where I have to do a 200 mile leg between chargers; or it's a location with no DCFCs and limited L2 charging. If the CT4 is going to replace my SUV, then it needs to be able to make that leg with a cargo box and 2 bikes... which I don't see it...
I guess I'm one of the few who keeps insisting on the 75-80 mph range tests. When I'm road-tripping, it's going to be a on the Interstate highways the majority of the time where doing 70 mph is annoying and you'll be getting passed like you're standing still... the videos usually show that...
I'm a huge fan of the CT (may get one eventually), but I wouldn't exactly characterize the Taycan Sedan as a toy only. I recently had some work trips across state and was able to fit my mountain bike in the trunk (with back seats down) by simply removing the front wheel, which is a 10-15 second...
Everyone who has the means should have had at least one 911 in their car history, even if briefly. It is such an icon. If you have never experienced a 911 and it fits into your life, it's a no brainer, do it.
I don't regret switching to the Taycan, but I also don't regret the time I had...
Yeah, that or just get a 14-50 extension cable (maybe cheaper?) since you have all the adapters to fit to the PMC, then you have a cable that can be used for other purposes too. ?
One addition I added was to get the 14-30 adapter as a 25 ft long extra cable. I figured that if you're trying to reach a dryer outlet, it may be a long reach.
I don't think there's a significant difference at the top of the battery as far as charge curves using a Level 2 charger. There's a significant charging curve when using DC fast chargers, but even then, it never drops below anything close to what a Level 2 charger puts out. Long story short...
Concussion.
The second time I did a launch control, it was on a slightly rippled pavement (as I discovered later), and the car did a violent traction control oscillation which whiplashed my head against the headrest 2-3 times. I was braced for a steady positive g force, and not the rapidly...
I hear you, I used to daily a 991.2 base Carrera with a manual, even through the winter. People thought I was nuts but it was surprisingly great in the snow (as long as ground/snow clearance was not an issue), but I had to clench through some of the rougher segments of roads and expansion...
I think folks are conflating a "Porsche" versus the "Taycan" a specific model in the Porsche lineup. Some Porsche models/variants are more likely to be bought as weekend toys/garage queens/track use, and some will be more likely bought for daily/regular duties. I see the Taycan as a...
Genesis GV60. Sort of reminds me of what the Macan EV should look like. The charging network where I live is starting to get good enough to replace my ICE SUV. Or just sell the SUV and trade the T4S for a Taycan CT.
Yeah sorry I missed the point of the question. Recuperation happens both when you apply the brake pedal, AND if you toggle the regen. The regen/recuperation (sorry I keep using the terms interchangably) button simply adjusts how much recuperation is applied when you let off the accelerator.
As I understand it, recup works upto a certain point (it is the primary method of slowing the vehicle, up to 250+ kW [or something close, someone can jump in with the exact number]), then the physical brakes will assist for hard braking. For normal driving, this will rarely happen except in...
