Residual value is an interesting element in the equation. A simple rule of thumb is that the more you spend, the more you lose. It would be brave to assume that the larger battery is 'gravity defying' in this regard.
Like most of the people on this forum, I like the options that I specified...
Thank Frank @f1eng for the insights. Citroen made some clever cars! At the Vegas F1 race, drivers appeared to be regenerating on the straights. I couldn’t quite get my head around that one! Back to the RWD Taycan: There have been articles published about the basics of how Porsche achieves brake...
I have a RWD with air suspension. The brakes work remarkably well, albeit with a quirk.
Old-school thinking suggests that most braking is done on the front wheels. These days, that does not appear to be the case. I don’t have in-depth knowledge of this, so my understanding may be incomplete...
Dealers were required by Porsche to install ChargeFox chargers. Porsche issues a ChargeFox card to every new Taycan owner, good for 3 years of free charging at any ChargeFox regardless of its location. Apparently (as explained by the dealer principle) the dealers assumed that Porsche would pick...
Charging my Taycan at the local Porsche dealership is a fantastic experience. Every Saturday morning (or every second if I haven't been driving much), I go to the local dealership and plug in. I get to see all the latest cars on the showroom floor, I enjoy talking to the team, the free coffee is...
How can any ‘loss of capacity’ be measured? Would it be obvious, i.e the charging display no longer gets to 100%? If so, has anyone experienced this yet?
And there I was telling myself 'you are losing it' when I fail to park exactly parallel to the lines. I guess there had to be a downside to rear axle steering - in all other respects it is marvellous.
RWD is a joy to drive. Clearly not as fast as other variants, but for all practical purposes it does not feel like a compromise. (I don't regard 'beating everyone else from the lights' as a practical purpose, although I accept that many would disagree.) It is lighter, has perfect weight...
The 'manual' section in the new version still explains how to use all of the options that aren't fitted on my vehicle. It would be helpful if the manual linked to the VIN, thereby showing only relevant information.
UPdate completed yesterday. No problems. The first couple of trips suggest that efficiency has improved… but I need a few more data points to be reasonably certain. The manuals were not replaced (unlike other countries).
There is something about the Taycan that makes it the perfect car for both a road trip and a long ‘Ieave the car here‘ lunch! Congrats on the new car. Dog Approval Rating appears to be high.
I’ve just returned from the local supermarket, where I got Pole Position in the parking lot, plugged in and charged at 22kW/hr. 2x the standard charging speed is quite handy. I expect that a lot of local infrastructure will roll out @22kW because it is much easier and cheaper than installing DC...
I have those wheels and rear axle steering (and the car is Jet Black Metallic). Very happy with the combination. If you go with the 21’ wheels then beware of potholes. My local tyre specialist mentioned that he had seen several pothole-related punctures on Tycans recently - all on 21’ wheels...
