    Depreciation of the 2025 Taycan

The notion that EVs are going to be like phones or laptops just because they have a battery is ridiculous, sorry. Leaving aside that people have been keeping laptops longer and longer for years now, and people are keeping phones longer and longer as well, there’s just no comparison with a car...

So are 'new' Turbo S Taycans essentially unsalable at present?

The most amazing thing about EVs is that despite the almost unprecedented efforts to destroy them, with near holy war fervor, from click hungry “influencers”, the fossil lobby, dealer network, dinosaurs like Harry and other “respected journalists”, Consumer Reports, the right wing press (which...

Next Gen Apple CarPlay for Porsche (and Aston Martin) - a First Look

Likelihood is very low. Most of what I've seen on iOS dev forums suggests that this requires new hardware in general (not specific to Porsche), so isn't something that can be retrofit purely via software. "The new CarPlay will be able to adjust climate control and your radio, but this...

Navigating with ABRP and PCM simultaneously

WOW! Thanks for this heads up! It's been a long time since I used ABRP and I had no idea they had made this kind of progress! Going to subscribe now (you should get a commission from them hahaha)

OTA Software Update (July 17, 2023)!

Not sure why people are saying "2020s don't support OTA". They definitely do. I've absolutely gotten OTA updates on my 2020, albeit only minor ones and only early on. And I don't mean "map updates", I mean actual OTA updates. I can't possibly be the only 2020 owner, who has owned since new...

Porsche unveils Apple CarPlay Update inc. Climate Control

It doesn't "bug me", I've just only see you mention it. No one I know has gotten this to work in any capacity, and dealers have confirmed that it shouldn't be working, so sharing details and pics of it in action would be interesting. If anyone else has it working please share

    MyPorsche app updated

Post pics of app and PCM along with model/country info. Definitely isn’t working in my car, and dealer confirmed what press release said - new Cayenne only. That pic is the new Cayenne. I don’t believe anyone has this working in a Taycan.

Porsche unveils Apple CarPlay Update inc. Climate Control

Its really not an old topic. I’d like to see proof of it working along with year/model/country. Definitely isn’t working in my car, press release says new Cayenne only, and dealer confirmed to me it doesn’t work in any other car.

    PCM

One thing worth noting... We did get a major PCM update, so I want to make sure to give Porsche credit for that. As a 2020 owner, I was a huge skeptic (documented in the stickied thread 😅 ), but Porsche came through and we are now all on 2023 software. There are no PCM changes in 2024...

1 Year old GTS vs new 4S

I faced similar choice a few years back, Turbo vs 4S, and went Turbo. Only regret is that I wasn’t able to find a Turbo with adaptive cruise that I wanted, but the car I found had full coverage XPEL Stealth, which was an $8k super high quality job, and had already taken a 15% depreciation hit...

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

On the topic of EA, I think it's a complex issue with no single root cause. Yes CCS1 is a PitA, but EVGo is markedly better than EA (as is almost everyone else in the CCS1 game), so it's more than just that. Also while I don't think it's a pure "compliance play", it's definitely true that they...

One week after 6 years in Tesla Model S to Taycan Turbo

Some great points all around. As a former Model S owner as well (2020 Performance), and current Model Y owner, I'll add some selected input... Tesla software is still superior, with the best UX/UI in the business overall, but CarPlay has really grown on me since the addition of router planner...

Apple CarPlay Updates in Upcoming iOS 17

With the Porsche/CarPlay route planning integration, live status is a very very nice update indeed! It's funny, but I was never a CarPlay fan, yet the addition of route planning, and album art display on the Passenger screen, in the Taycan won me over. My other car is a Model Y and while I...

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

Huh? Can you show me where I suggested you should go buy another Taycan? You were talking about dumping your current one, and then "going back to 911". You're still talking about this. You said "enjoy your depreciation". Depreciation is only relevant if you sell the car. That's my whole...

GM follows Ford with NACS Tesla charge port adoption -- time to ditch CCS1 (at least the physcial design)

I totally understand the reflex here, and the frustration, but I don't see the point of this honestly. You'd take a bad value hit already, yet the car is perfectly fine right now and will be for a good long while. At some point, in theory CCS1 cars could become significantly less desirable...

How I fixed the door rattles

Super helpful pics of what the audio guy did! As for "XYZ CAR IS IMMUNE TO RATTLES!!!" I'm going to call complete bullshit. My 997 Turbo rattled. My 996's rattled. The Macan loaner I had when my Turbo went in for the 2023 update rattled. I believe someone said the MachE is a bank vault...

    MY 2025 Taycan refresh?

997.1 to 997.2 saw tiptronic get replaced by PDK. This was massive. People forget how enormous ICE changes have been generation over generation for the past 20 years or so and no manufacturer, certainly not Porsche, has cared about "pissing off existing customers" when dropping updates into a...

EQE AMG vs Porsche Taycan 4S: thoughts?!

They peak at 170kW and actually have a very good charging curve, so I think this is ok. One thing that isn't really ok though is that they don't have a heat pump. I think that was a miss on their part. EVs that don't have a frunk are a bit of a pet peeve for me as well (which is weird b/c I...

EQE AMG vs Porsche Taycan 4S: thoughts?!

Timely thread! I’ve had my Taycan Turbo since 2020 and just came back from an EQE AMG test drive. I have to say I liked the Benz way more than I thought I would. It’s a tough call. If you want a drivers car, that is about as sporty as a giant barge can get, and looks special, then the Taycan...

PSA: Don't fully trust the 3D surround vision

The backup camera does suck, but posts like this are ridiculous. ALL USS throw occasional false positives. Maybe you didn’t realize since your new Model S doesn’t have them? Were you unable to see that giant pole in front of you because of the backup camera? The top down view is very good and...
