We'll start with the bonus:
"11. Avoid repeated or prolonged use of the Porsche Connect smartphone app. Establishing a connection between the app and the vehicle can lead to a discharged 12-volt battery."
This is from this document: "Information on parking or storing the Taycan." dated Oct...
This was a difficult decision to come to, but I guess it needs to be made. I’ve decided to sell my Taycan.
It has been a wonderful experience, a fantastic ride, and through this community I’ve met many great and generous people, both virtually and in person.
I’ll wander back through...
It’s October. So I’m sitting outside my dealership as they swap on my winter wheels & tires. Another Taycan is brought out of service and parked nearby. The head service technician, who was driving it, gets out, looks over at me, and says “Good morning, Mr Louv.”
Is it a bad sign that the...
It’s that season, so my cat asked to go fo a drive to get out of the city and see the leaves changing colors.
A bridge was out, the Nav didn’t know the road was closed. Then it took me down another 2 mile dirt road adventure. Thanks Porsche!
Someday, when I kick the bucket, I’d like my Hearse to be an all black (or Cherry red?) Taycan Cross Turismo.
Please take me for a few fast laps around the nearest racetrack. Or the Nurburgring. Whatever is convenient.
Ok. Thanks. Someday.
A little birdy told me there's a Software/Firmware Update coming the week of November 9th, 2020.
I fully expect that the contents of that release have ALREADY been defined. So, realistically, I wouldn't get my hopes up if you were thinking of calling Porsche and telling them to put your...
Hooks In the trunk. (these photos are taken from the back seat towards the back of the car)
You can use them for groceries, holiday decorations, drying hams and cheeses, or mouse acrobatics.
My turn to ask for help. :)
Am I missing a piece of trim here? Just forward of the the center console lid, driver’s side.
The clip and shape of the surroundings make me think there should be something here.
And, I think I see a similar piece on the passenger side. (3rd image)
Sometimes the navigation sends me down “minor” roads, which in Maine might be dirt.
Only one water crossing. Ok, fine, it was just a mud puddle.
I had to go to the High setting on the air suspension a couple of times.
The pickup truck drivers were amused.
I went for a 330 mile drive today. Used two ChargePoint stations and one ElectrifyAmerica station.
CP in Jackman, Maine (Porsche Nav says 100kW, CP says 62.5kW, my experience: 27kW. SoC & Temp would predict up to 150kW)
CP in Skowhegan, Maine (Porsche Nav says 100kW, CP says 62.5kW, my...
I picked up a little brother electric.
35% of the battery capacity.
80% the weight.
40% the range.
20% Max charge rate.
25% the price.
cute and fun to drive.
My car is Black on Black. It’s a Launch car, so I didn’t get to have it built to my order. After I took delivery in December, I compared my Launch car’s build options to what I would have built.
I was pondering what could be retrofitted: Rear wheel steering? No. Fancy electric charge...
The trunk speaker is terribly loud.
I live in a multi-owner condo conversion victorian house. The driveway is right outside my downstairs neighbors bedroom windows.
Opening (and then closing) the trunk while my neighbors are sleeping is probably quite annoying. Almost as annoying as people...
Since my Taycan lives outside, like many of my cars before, I bought an outdoor cover for it. None of the aftermarket car cover makers had added the Taycan to their pattern library yet, so I bought the Porsche branded one.
Porsche is clearly new to the Electric car market. There are no flaps...

You know your Taycan has a 12v battery, right? Do you know where it is? Do you what to do if it goes completely dead?
UPDATE July 30, 2020: tl;dr? Jump to Reply #297 for the Fixes to this problem.
I do. Now. I didn’t pay much attention to it until yesterday morning. I mean, I knew it...
Today I (re)Learned:
Don’t store your Snow Brush/Scraper in the trunk.
Especially if you’ve pre-heated the car, which has preheated the rear window so now there’s a layer of water on the window. But not on the trunk.
Watch what happens when you open the trunk.
I crack myself up.
