It is standard on Turbo and above. I have a feeling it may help the RWD get faster out of corners especially when grip is not perfect. I can’t see any material benefit for 4S (it has the lowest max torque on rear wheels and the help from front axle to pull it out of corners).
I can think of quite a number of car companies who charged 200K+ for cars and still had massive cash flow problems :) - Watch the new Ferrari movie when you get a chance. Pretty good.
Not to say Porsche has a cash flow problem today. They don't, but it's not because they are selling 200K+ cars...
Interesting that almost all cars are 4s or Turbos and no RWDs. Wondering if it has anything to do with RWDs putting less strain on battery with only one inverter pulling energy from the pack.
You are not going crazy. The transmission noise is noticeably higher in my 22 RWD since last 12 months. I does not bother me as it is but it will if it becomes even louder.
Transmission and the rear motor are part of the single rear drive unit so they replace the whole thing when this happens. I believe when dealer says “rear motor” they mean “rear drive unit” - and the issue is with the transmission not the motor.
This is not a new issue. Number of Taycans got their rear drive units replaced because of transmission failure (the same symptoms). You can find threads it in this forum if you search. It seems to be unique to rwd and 4Ss which has the smaller rear motors.
I am interested once RWD data becomes available but there has to be a material price difference between a RWD tune (which will have very limited power gain other than LC power unlock) vs a CT4, which gets transformed to a GTS level performance, totally different level of gain.
Also i believe...
Sorry for your headache. Hope it gets resolved soon.
These crazy parts costs make me realize another oddity. When its time Instead of trading the car to a dealer i will sell the parts in ebay. My perfect condition mission E’s should get me $6-7K. PSCBs with discs $3-4K? $3K for the glass roof...
downside is you will be effectively increasing your gear ratios, which will decrease your wheel torque, the last thing the rwd needs. Your real top speed will increase a bit but your speedo would understate it a bit. Actually doing the reverse may make more sense as it would improve acceleration.
This accident happened in Ann Arbor MI, where i went to school years ago. That shell station was literally right across the street where i lived for two years, where i used to fill up my station wagon Saab back in the day (my friends used to make fun of that car all the time, they’d call it...
Why in the hell it needs to be this complicated? Why can’t you simply put a code “when the 12V battery is weak, charge the freaking thing via the HV battery” and save all of us the hassle. i am asking but i don’t really want to hear the answer because it is likely a stupid german inflexibility...
Travel car seats works fine for squeezing 3 across. We fit 2 kids with a mifold and pico and an adult back there with no problem. (also regularly utilize PP Viaggio Flex or Diono radian + Mifold/Pico + adult with no issues.) Leg room is scarce but width of the rear seat is more than a lot of...
I am more focused on RWD given that model would benefit most from something like this. I don't think Porsche would do it officially (especially given new RWD does not have push to pass).
It is a pity so much of the power not available without LC and makes such a big difference, almost 100hp can...
Yes I forgot about that. The other one that was standard in 4S but not in RWD was PDLS. Now seems to be standard in all. Automatic folding mirrors now also seems to be standard.
Things that I noticed that were previously standard on 4s but was not on RWD until now:
1- Air suspension
2- Aluminum door sill guards and trunk sill guards (standard was black plastic with RWD unless you paid for an upgrade which was stupid)
other things that were not standard in either 4s or...
Already addressed with the mid cycle refresh. New rwd now has ~20% more torque from standstill, giving it 0.6 sec faster 0-60, which is all it needed really.
