I agree, Porsche knows there is a problem and this was their fix. They don't want the expense and embarrassment of a recall. There are many much more serious examples of this in automotive history. Remember the Ford Pinto gas tanks, 1970's Fords slipping from park into reverse, the Toyotas...

I should have mentioned that the melted NEMA 14-50 was on September 1st. When my friend went to the dealer, they told him he should only charge at 20amps using the EVSE because it tends to overheat. Of course he had to pay for an electrician to replace the NEMA 14-50.
