Another bit of dumb “copy how ICE cars work“ design it seems.
in the end I’ve gone for turning on climate remotely for an hour a couple of times during my absence and we will see whether that makes things better or worse; one theory is that this will power the car up and recharge the 12V from...
We will be away for six weeks and although the vehicle will be plugged into power, I understand the 12V is likely to die because (unlike Tesla) it doesn’t charge from the main battery when parked. We don’t have trickle chargers etc available as recommended by Porsche and others.
Does it charge...
no need for that. Charging in France is a breeze.
You can probably get all the way on Ionity. Fastned is a fabulous alternative - but there are plenty of others.
look at Plugshare, filtered for >150kW. Or run up a plan on A Better Route Planner. Here is an example:
take a look at A Better...
oh how true. And also “I figured out how to give users a level of control they didn’t know they wanted, including a particularly obscure way not just of starting charging but of stopping it too.”
And “I added a very clever feature which makes part of the user interface disappear, replacing it...
I think they have designed it well for this mindset. If you are on a boring road and want to relax a bit, it Is right there -but will disappear immediately if you want to grab control and do a bit of spirited driving. One flick on the lever and it disengages, or a touch of the brake - but you...
I love Innodrive + the other systems. It stays on most of the time. It provides a second pair of eyes to react to things I have missed. It recognises speed limit changes and correctly adjusts speed in advance of the sign. It is significantly less sophisticated than Tesla’s autopilot but (as a...
Absolutely. Also, their helpdesk is in complete denial. I report the two main issues (app deciding car is in privacy mode when it’s not; app showing “just updated” when it is showing yesterday’s status including window open etc) using the instabug facility (shake the phone and it pops up)...
Yes 0f course - but it is hard to reconcile ecen the slightest interest in the environment with the ”I‘m going back to an ICE car” that has surfaced quite a few times here.
This forum makes me sad. Our polluted planet is desperate for us to take steps to reduce climate change and stop burning fossil fuels. We are driving one of the most sophisticated, highest performance consumer EVs — which has zero tailpipe emissions (and almost no in-life emissions for those...
Perhaps the lower limit is a national penance for NL having inflicted that horrible 100km/hr speed limit on those of us travelling through on the way back from Germany… :-). It is now a very tedious journey! :-)
But isn’t that kind of the point of range mode? It cripples various things including climate and speed so you save battery.
I never use range mode - it’s not what a Porsche is for :)
This happened on a dealer car when we took our first test drive! I think they weren't expecting us to go and test charging....
The most efficient approach is for a nearby OPC to just book in into their workshop on Monday - but some have long queues at the moment. Calling Porsche Assistance is...
You have a good point. The ONLY thing that petrol and diesel car owners can cling to is this notional idea of "range" (unless they are right at the loony fringe and believe all the FUD about lithium mining and so on). There is a massive vested interest, both the car industry and all those...
what annoys me is that they don’t do anything by remote software update. Tesla find and fix issues every day and push those out as updates for the global fleet. Porsche instead tell us to drive an hour to the dealer, who says “We will need your car overnight in case the update fails”. It’s...
Why do people obsess over the range guess-o-meter so much? To the point of thinking of returning such a brilliant car??
I travelled all over Europe in a Tesla with less than 200 miles range and it was a complete non issue. Focus on getting home charging installed first - then you can forget...
Our (gravel) driveway is fine where we park. But our driveway ends up at a badly maintained pavement and deep gully, and it scrapes front, middle and sometimes back on the way in and out. We have had some driveway contractors around — what a rogue industry, almost as bad as scaffolders — one...
