One last question. Is this special “new” colour likely to delay my build? I was due to go into build mid Sept for completion early Oct. Just wandering if this change will delay because it’s a special paint?

thanks
Shouldn't cause any delays!

Porsche sends out monthly updates of what options might cause delays (depending on the area you live in) to dealers. Your dealer should always alert you if an option causes a delay. Currently the special paints do not have any delays associated with them.

Awesome post LM. i was thinking dol silver, but didn’t like blue tones, but now ice grey is the one!!

Is Ice grey a standard metallic colour? eg no satin/ frozen flakes?

i was Pondering crayon but always looks beige in pics, inc your samples. Does it have beige tones?

Agreed. I decided against Dolomite Silver for the same reasons - looks blue silver in certain light. This I am hoping is more silver/white grey in any light conditions. Will know I guess in late Oct now.

late October is exciting. Just saw in the other thread it says the colour has a lot of metal flake in it. I’m hoping it will be a grey/ silver colour with lots of flip! Porsche have called it ice grey but not seeing many grey tones so far!

I have ordered crayon this week for sep build. No delay. The only option I saw that would have delayed the order (by 30 days so I passed) was the offset coloured inners on the seats.

Tons of flake in the Ice Grey Metallic. I think it's going to be a gorgeous color in the sunlight. Much prefer it to Dolomite Silver from the sample.

To me, Chalk really looks like concrete when it is first poured. Not really beige, but a dark/white/earthy tone. Hope that makes sense. It is one of my favorite colors though!

I agree. I'm not sure the best way to describe it but when I see a Chalk Porsche (or the equivalent color on other makes) I think "okay, there's someone that tunes their car and takes it to the track". It has an unfinished edge to it that makes it kind of edgy. I see a lot of GTS owners spec the color, so I don't think I'm the only one.

I actually think Chalk will be up there with Carmine Red & Mamba Green as one of the flashiest colors on the Taycan. It's a "statement" color, IMO.

I agree - it looks custom. Very hard to describe; you really have to see it. You'll definitely get a lot of "what color is that?" from bystanders.

I have a deposit down for a 2021 model and will be looking to get this IGM. Tentative delivery will be Jan/Feb 2021 so I’ll definitely plan to take pictures of the car then and post here. I currently have a white car with black bits and am looking for something a shade (pun intended) little less contrasty.

Hopefully someone else will beat me too it because I’d love to see what it actually looks like, but either way I’m committed based on that swatch and comparison!

The European buyers will get it sometime in October, I presume.

Nice! I think you'll love it. Ice Grey seems like a safe choice to me (and I mean that in a good way.. ie.. it'll be a color that always looks good and you won't get sick of) as long as you're okay spending the extra money.

Uh-oh, there is no racetrack anywhere near where I live and I couldn't tune an electric car if I wanted to. :p
