Why is the Model 3 even in the test? Is it bc of the word "Performance" in its name?

I find the GT pointless. Porsche would have been better served by allocating that development budget to making the rest of the fleet even better.
I love mine and I am glad they made it. I am sure I would have also loved a Turbo, or GTS, or the new S that is about as powerful as my last gen GTS.

I think the small percentage of development budget that went to the Turbo GT will make the rest of the line better in the future. They made a 4 door sedan that I can drive to work in complete comfort and my wife likes riding in as a passenger that broke 2 seconds 0-60, laps Laguna Seca faster than nearly everything, and perhaps most importantly feels great to drive.

How can this not be a good investment of resources for Porsche and bode well for the next generation of Taycans?

So beside the Lucid; they tested 5 other cars that cost 1/5 of the GT; and have 300-400hp less?

What exactly did they expect? Was the winner a surprise?

Ridiculous article

It's a 4 door sedan. It doesn't need that level of performance. It's not ment to be a track weapon, by simply having 4 doors.

Those resources should have been invested in creature comforts: better software, better UI, internal space, thinner A pillars, smarter voice assistant, better application, more remote features, etc.

My opinion.

The car already handled better, and could keep up with a much stronger car, the Lucid. The extra HP did almost nothing to change that - it still can't keep up in a straight line, it still outpaces it in curves, identical results to the 2020 turbo s. But the Lucid completely outpaces the Taycan GT in internal space, software, UI, comfort, storage, etc.

These articles help with the coolness-factor for EV. It shows that brands try to make sporty EV’s too. Almost everyone has a vehicle in the line up that they could afford.

Why wouldn't it be, according to you?
Tesla:
Price as Tested
$64,630

Motors
F: induction AC
R: permanent-magnet synchronous AC

Output
510 hp
547 lb-ft

Transmission
direct-drive

EPA Range
303 mi

Curb Weight
4046 lb

0–60 mph
2.8 sec

Turbo GT:
Price as Tested
$245,660

Motors
2 permanent-magnet synchronous AC

Output
777 hp (1019 w/boost)
855 lb-ft (914 w/boost)

Transmission
F: direct-drive
R: 2-speed automatic

EPA Range
276 mi

Curb Weight
5203 lb

0–60 mph
1.9 sec

Lucid:

Price as Tested
$250,500

Motors
3 permanent-magnet synchronous AC

Output
1234 hp
1430 lb-ft

Transmission
direct-drive

EPA Range
427 mi

Curb Weight
5345 lb

0–60 mph
2.1 sec

I think the differences speak for themselves. Comparing single motor, to double and triple motors; at 5x the price, with in the case of Lucid, double the horse power; is simply a waste of time. Not to mention the tesla is 400v; the other 2 are 800v; so the battery itself delivers more power.

The Model S could have barely fit in here, the model 3, not so much

Should we include the Dacia Spring also? As it is the most performant Dacia. It kinda fits the "performance" criteria, no?

Ridiculous

What do you think this (your own quote below) means? Single motor? Or are you saying they are comparing only one motor at a time on the Model 3 somehow, against dual and triple motor performance? ;)

As for comparisons, M3 Performance will smoke most Taycans off a red light without even trying, especially without enabling Launch Mode (on both cars of course). Heck even the old (pre-refresh) Model Y Performance driven by a soccer mom and loaded with kids will do the same. The fact that you can buy a 5 top Model 3 Performance cars for a price of a single Taycan Turbo S is also interesting.

Both are the “performance” versions of their own model. So?

So, according to Tesla's website: Model 3 performance has 1 Performance drive unit powering it.

“Performance Drive Unit” (PDU), which is a high-performance electric motor and gearbox combination. The PDU is designed to deliver improved acceleration, handling, and efficiency.

So 1 single motor, yes.

Turbo GT has 2 motors, 1 front, 1 back. And Lucid has 3.

EDIT: you're ignoring that model S exists.

https://ev-database.org/car/1705/Dacia-Spring-Electric-45

So the Dacia spring should fit right in there right, as the performance version of its model.

Correct?

The 1000 hp difference should be ignored; as it is irrelevant according to people on this forum. Same for the price difference.

What's next, are we going to compare the Porsche GT to a horse carriage, since it's with BIO fuel, just so Porsche owners feel better about their choice?

You guys are ridiculous. I'll stop here...
