21" Aero Blades Kerb Scraggs (Curb Rash) Repaired - it happened again!

Using park assist it got confused and scragged the rear wheel in. The problem was I was wedged in with no room in front to get out so I had to scrag the front wheel to dig myself out. Obviously I cried as I didn't get Alloy insurance. However, I have been using a guy from Essex Smart Repairs to do my previous BMW wheels so I got him down. They couldn't diamond cut them on the lathe mobile. The carbon fibre has to be removed for one thing. So I would have to go via Porsche to an approved repairer who would charge an arm and a leg. Instead of them taking my wheels for a week I opted for Replication where the scraggs are filled in with silver paint. All in £120 (inc VAT). Excellent work.

Amazing what wheel repair shops can do.

Whoops I did it again! It's funny. Every scragg I do is because I deviate from my normal driving. And after, I always lament why did I do that. Anyway rang my mobile wheel repair guy.

2 long scraggs and smaller one nearby on same wheel.

Sanded. 180 paper first, then 500 to take 180 swirls out. The alloy is so soft in seconds you can take out the damage and smooth it.

Time to paint! Silver spray.

Ta da! Aero Blade back to as good as new!

£60 with tip.

I feel your pain! Pictures are painful to look at too. Had this happen many times in past cars with expensive big wheels, and I cried every single time. I ordered my Taycan with just the 20” stockers… so maybe I’ll cry less.

I feel your pain! Pictures are painful to look at too. Had this happen many times in past cars with expensive big wheels, and I cried every single time. I ordered my Taycan with just the 20” stockers… so maybe I’ll cry less.

It's perfect. It doesn't come off. I have used Phil for the last 3 years. He did my BMW alloys previously multiple times and the Aero Blades twice (both times 2- 3 wheels). Spot the trend? BTW he also does Smart Repair for scratches, scuffs etc. If you have any he can sort that also. And his mate is the dent guy. An arsehole delivery scooter dinged my boot lip with his scooter grip handle when parking in between cars creating a perfect little oval dent on the BMW. Had that popped out. Fascinating to watch the process.

Yep. If you got the dealer approved wheel shop they would take the wheels and do the same only charging you an arm and a leg. Did notice a chunk out of your tyre in the pics above. The money grabbing Porsche heathens might MOT fail that?

That’s annoying but a great job! I’ve done similar in a multi story car park but i have some wheel insurance with a £10 per wheel excess which cost £200 for two years… need to make the call to claim next week!

Another alternative is to buy Rimblades or Allygaytor alloy wheel trim protectors.
Rimblades Rim Savers works best with diamond cut alloys.

If really picky, only thing is paint doesn’t quite give the shine of OEM diamond turned finish
