Thatā€™s exactly how I see that world. Mineā€™s no F40, but it is 1 of only 50 (#48), and for more than a decade, it was my only car and daily driver, sun, rain, snow and hauler of 3 kids.

Porsche Taycan 911 Dakar a.k.a. Taycan CT tribute editionšŸ˜ 2W3dnYm9Y7XalS7xnmFv6z-6b2042527c3b3e8c48148754ad51ce25-Porsche-911-Dakar-LA-Hero-1100

Actually it was a 953, not a 959.

With the original one there was a nice story.
When looking under the dash there was a little switch but they didn't know where it was for...
After talking to the original drivers they found out it was for switching off the brake lights.
That way the competition couldn't see where to brake in the Paris Dakar rally...šŸ˜

I'm sure the race-driven and well-worn 959 Dakar cars have at least as much value as the potential garage queens 959 Dakar.

I loathe the garage queen cars; Ferrari owners keeping their cars in a garage and whose pleasure is to rub their cars on Sunday with a diaper, and maybe take it out 6 weekends every year. Often, their cars don't run well because the battery is dead, the tyres have dry rot, the brake fluid is loaded with water. all because they don't use their cars enough. Do these same guys "save" their GFs for the next guy?

Big thumbs up to those who daily their 288 GTB, their McLaren. If you have money to buy it then pay for parts to be changed when used, small chips to be fixed etc.

Buy the Dakar if you like it (it's awesome), daily drive it and push it on gravel roads. Wear the scratches proudly, like battle scars and be assured that no one will think you're the diaper-wiping kind.
There's a guy here in Austin named Eddie with a lava orange 991 GT3 RS and the front lip is just beat to hell with rock chips. Like awful. Half of it is white. And everyone that comes around during a cars and coffee compliments him because they know it's the rare one that's been driven like it should be, and he sure enjoys the compliments.

Cars, even collectible ones, are meant to be driven. I canā€™t think of anything more fun than driving, say, an F40 every chance you got instead of some sh*tbox so that you could keep the F40 mothballed and collecting dust.
I too am deeply tempted by the Dakar with the extended tribute package.
....it's good points. I'm daily driving my Taycan Turbo S right now. I'd definitely be the bonehead driving it into the ground. The Dakar is just about the perfect version for me given where I live and if I wanted a 911 for daily (lot of snow, 20 degree driveway, etc).

You mentioned that you had a Targa but you'd get a coup with the sunroof if you got another 911. Can I ask why? ....noise, temperature, didn't use it, broke/mechanical?

Is that a factory limited edition or just a PCA limited edition?

Only because I had the older style Targa (996) that was closer to the modern glass sunroof. I like being able to open and close while driving. Mine was based on a Carrera S so only RWD, manual, with factory power kit.

Yes, in theory the roof is heavier but, cā€™mon people, for a street car how many of you (1) are pushing them hard enough on that streets that you would ever notice and (2) are good enough drivers that it would make a difference anyway? I know it makes no difference for me on the streets.

Factory worked with PCA, but it is a factory limited edition. Itā€™s legit. Very few options you could pick. Mine is only 1 of 6 to come with factory aero kit. X51 power kit, RWD, manual. All 50 have same color and cannot PTS to it (but they have similar colors). Sounds glorious. File to big to post full video but enjoy this audio.

You are quick, lol.
I realized my opinion could spoil your fun so I deleted my comment after a few seconds....
But unfortunately you read it...
I donā€™t really care personally (honestly) because I donā€™t drive cars for clout (and see my sig), but I do appreciate your thoughtfulness. I deleted as well.
