My Porsche has in theory the same feature as my BMW had. Adaptive cruise control. How my BMW worked, it basically held the steering wheel between the lanes, and under 40pm (traffic jam assist) didn’t even require hands on wheel. Over 40 it required hands but it still steered for you.

I don’t know if I’m missing a feature, but my Taycan doesn’t do the steering. Even when the lanes are locked green, it basically will only intervene if you hit the lane and it will bring you back into the lane, but it doesn’t actively keep steering for you.

Is there an additional package I am missing that would actually do the steering like my old beemer?

thanks in advance!

There is LKA and ALK part of Innodrive with a difference of what they do and how they work together. They are enabled in the left tube via checkboxes under Assistance Systems. I think what you are experiencing is LKA only but you are looking for ALK that requires InnoDrive to be optioned.

From the manual:

LKA: Lane Keep Assist is a system that supports the driver within the system limits in a speed range of approx. 40–155 mph (65–250 km/h) to keep the vehicle in the lane. When the vehicle approaches a detected lane marking and is in danger of leaving the driving lane, the system initiates corrective steering intervention. If the Active Lane Keeping function is active, Lane Keep Assist does not perform any steering interventions. If the lane markings are crossed, a warning tone is still emitted.

ALK: Active Lane Keeping is a system that supports the driver within the system limits in a speed range of approx. 0–130 mph (0–210 km/h) through continuous steering interventions to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.

From configurator:

Active Lane Keep (ALK): Another feature of Porsche InnoDrive including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is Active Lane Keep. It combines ACC and Lane-Keeping functionality on major roads and highways. The system follows the line of traffic ahead and lane markings, within the limits of the system, and keeps the vehicle in the middle of the lane by continuous steering adjustments - even in congested conditions.

It seems like I either don’t have or haven’t found the way to activate ALK. I’ll look at it again on Monday when I get back to my car (I miss my Porsche 😰)

You probably don’t have it. It is part of the optional Innodrive package or can (used to be able to) be purchased as a FOD add on

220K MSRP and doesn’t have active lane keep assist 💀
You have to check your window sticker if you have Innodrive optioned and Yes, if this is not optioned, then you do not have it! @Midlifecrisis is correct that at least at some point in the past if you have ACC you could add InnoDrive as a FOD later, but as far as we know the FOD program has been shut down.

I am happy to take a moment and take a picture of my left tube where you will know right away if you have it or not.

Thank you. Is it something that’s possible to purchase via a subscription?

I would check first if you have InnoDrive already. If not, I would call Porsche corporate and ask them if they can allow a purchase under FOD (Function on Demand over the air download) for your VIN. You are a 2024 then there is chance that it may be possible.

I don’t think I have it. It seems like the new age upsell, where you have all of the equipment but need to pay extra for the software. I probably won’t buy it as a sign of protest

Easy to check. Took some pictures for you.
This is not an upsell, this is how Porsche structures their options.

Find Assistance systems in the left tube.

Porsche Taycan Adaptive Cruise Control 1732919703227-zo

Click into it, make sure Assistance is turned on via the left button on the assistance stock.
Then you will see what you have as shown below. ALK is what you are looking for.

I’ll paste pictures when I’m by my car, but I just have 2 options there :( Limiter and one more option (either ACC or Lane Keep Assist).

I’m not blaming it on anyone. It’s my choice, I bought the car, and I’m happy with it. But it’s just wild to me that a 200K+ car would miss this basic feature

Really sorry to hear that and it is for sure frustrating that Porsche continues to break things into options. I wish you would have joined the forum when you were speccing your car and then we would have checked your build and advised on options. I spent at least a year refining my build looking and testing every option in person when I could and driving loaners for days to make sure I get it exactly as I wanted and still ended up making a choice that I am not happy with.
