I ordered a set of Vossen rims for my 22 Taycan Base. Front wheels are 20x9 and rear wheels are 20x10.5. Vossen and local tire shop discussed fitment and recommended Michelin Pilots. 285 up front and 315 in rear. Is this too big? I’ve never bought aftermarket rims so I’m in the dark on this. Thoughts??

I have the 285/315 set up on my Pan ST with 21 inch Porsche wheels. Looks and works great but too much rubber for an EV in my opinion….even if they fit.

285 is a bit too wide for a 9 inch front wheel. Generally minimum wheel width should be 9.5 for a 285.

I'd also generally agree a 285/315 set up for a RWD is overkill, particularly on an EV where you're going to lose quite a bit of range due to increased rolling resistance

For the wheels you have, I'd recommend 255/40/20 front and 295/35/20 rear. It's what I plan to do when I get my CT4. Has a bit more width than factory 245/45/20 and 285/40/20, and also smaller sidewall (but taller than 21s) so a happy medium

Curious what vossen wheels you're going to go for? Would love to see the setup once you get it - I'm going to also do 20s and debating whether to do HF-5s or try to see if HRE will do a FF10/11 that is load rated for the taycan

Thanks for the advice. I hate to say it but picking the correct wheels has been harder than building the car. So many different size options. I went with HF-1.

HF-1

OK...so I met with tire guy this morning and based off this threads advice about efficiency, I decided on 255 45 20 up front and 295 40 20 in the rear. It was the seemingly the best balance of aesthetics and efficiency. I suppose I have until April to change my mind 400 times again...sheesh.

Look forward to seeing the HF-1!

One word of caution - 255/45/20 and 295/40/20 are taller than the factory 20 size, specifically with more sidewall (which in my mind lowers aesthetics given the 20s have a pretty big sidewall) Don't know if the front tire will rub at that size. Would suggest doing 255/40/20 and 295/35/20 instead

I wasn’t happy with the comfort and mileages of my 21” mission E rims and switched to the German made Brock B40 20” rims, 245/45 - 285/40.

Those look great - very similar to a 20 inch version of the OEM 21 spyder wheels

You and I both! This isn't my Taycan, but these are the pictures the Vossen gallery that sold me. I love them. My fitment will be gloss back on a black Taycan and I will certainly come bac with pictures when it's in hand.

The GTS has those sizes as an option. You can have the 245/285 or the 255/295 tires, with 40 profile on 20" wheels.

Yeah, the tire installer showed me the fitment software and it seems like there is plenty of room. Not my area of expertise though. Fingers crossed.
