Any hopes for prior Taycan's for significant upgrade?

I’m hoping for a software patch that makes the auto-start feature in Comfort Access more reliable (it fails at least 30% of the time), and the overall stability of the operating system. I get frequent incidents where the speed limit sign is not displayed, my seat doesn’t adjust fully to my saved setting, the GPS lift ”feature” almost NEVER works, and one has to nearly STOP at the saved GPS point to allow it to figure it all out and lift the car! TERRIBLE reliability and performance in these areas in my experience! But what do you expect for a mere $170,000.00? This is my first Porsche and I have to say, the car drives sensationally well, but the electronic and digital aspects are shockingly bad. When I bring it in the dealer just says “All systems are operating normally”. Huh….(I am a Product Designer, so I’m coming from an informed point of observation)

My PCM was stuck at the startup screen this morning, for the entire duration of the drive (~50min).
I had the very same experience. I went straight to the dealer who tried to help, but ultimately the Digital Guru of the shop said that it was probably an OTA update that takes a long time to finish integrating. It did indeed clear up after a couple of hours, but this could be avoided by better hardware (faster processors) and better software design. It happened again a few days later.

the GPS lift ”feature” almost NEVER works
I wonder if you have sketchy LTE reception or satellite visibility somewhere. That GPS lift feature is absolutely nails for me - it triggers every single time within a meter or so of where I trained it. It even works in the hills around where I live where there are lots of dead spots for satradio.

I think the most common cause of this (mis)behavior is the car's inability to detect the key. If you keep it in a pouch (or, say, a foil-lined pocket), try some changes and see if it gets better?

Both 2023 and 2024 Taycan are supposed to get a software upgrade. Looking forward to learning the details. Hopefully that includes features such as the new Garage Pilot which is part of the 2025 Remote ParkAssist option, etc.
Unless there’s new PCM hardware, it would be maintenance madness if Porsche ended up with multiple software versions and configurations to support.

That's a good thought, but I don't think it's a factor here. We have strong cell reception and I've experienced inconsistent performance in the very same spot over time. Plus, I believe this function is all own-board, not LTE dependent, and the GPS should be an on-board sensor too. Is that right?

I thought so too, but my key fob is in an all-leather case, and hanging outside my handbag. It's baffling, really. I can toss it in the rear cargo area (Sport Truismo) and then get in and sit down and it works without touching the brake or wheel, or it fails when I sit and have the fob on my belt loop, and mash the brake! (The dealer said you must depress the brake pedal. This is definitely NOT true for my car!)

Well, GPS is always going to be sensitive to satellite visibility. I'm not sure whether the car stores its list of locations onboard or in the cloud.

In my (admittedly very brief) experience, that feature is so specific that I have actually had to set up two different triggers for the same parking lot, depending on which entrance I come at it from.

Same here. One location if I approach my driveway from the east, and the other from the west. When I'm two driveways away on either side, I slow down to less than 20 mpg (30 kph) to engage the SmartLift.

Boldface added to set up the following:

One Texan is bragging to another about the size of his ranch. He says "pardner, I wake up at sunrise, get in my truck, drive until sundown and still haven't left my land".

Other Texan says "yep, had me a truck like that once".

I received An OTA update on my 2022 turbo S this week. Said it had to do with streaming or ? Now my airplay doesn’t register so I’ll need to reset it up again so it must have been something substantial as this only happened once before with the last major pcm update

Had this same one, as well as a UI update. It froze the UI for a whole journey but worked after I got a notification it finished

Anyone know if the old battery pack is swappable with the new one in the 2025 Taycan, Hopefully never need to upgrade it, would be intresting to know if it's possible though.

" Porsche says top Taycan models can be had with a larger 105 kWh Performance Plus battery pack, up from 93 kWh on the last Taycan. "We increased it 12% [in size] and we changed the chemical density, therefore it's more powerful than before," Taycan program director Steffen Christian told me recently. "It helps with the performance and it helps with the range as well."

Lot of Taycan owners are leased cars. Providing upgrade will keep the resale value higher, that reduce depreciation and total lease value, increasing car sales.

For brand fans like us, keep the motivation to stay loyal, buy a fun car for the weekend, etc. The only tradeoff here is the cost of labor in the dealership since OTA sucks in current Taycan
Very good point on the labor, since the hourly rate is at least double at my dealership anything related to the Taycan vs. our Macan/Cayenne. This will also contribute to a very high cost of scheduled maintenance where going through the checks, brake fluid flush, and cabin filter (easy DYI) can cost us most likely more than ICE scheduled maintenance to keep the service department open while upselling customers on low or no maintenance EV myth.

The point being, that if they decide to bring any 2025 refresh updates, it will be a dealer visit, requiring expensive hourly labor. I would certainly pay whatever to get some of the new updates we are seeing to keep the car as current as possible.

+1 to this, the feature is not for a pin point GPS location, if you are approaching it from a different side or angle, it requires another save of the location, in my experience.
