All,

I searched forums, but didn’t see this topic, so I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue. My Iphone has no issues connecting to the PCM/CarPlay in the morning, but after a few minutes of driving, my Pandora periodically stops due to “a poor connection”. I check my phone and it’s connected itself to the Taycan network, not the ATT 5G network. When I try to access any other apps once this happens, Starbucks for example, I have to shut off the Wi-Fi on the phone to access any website. After a short time, I see the phone is back on the 5G network, not the Taycan network, it’s weird. I really don’t want to hard wire the phone to bypass this, but if it keeps doing this, I might just do that. Thoughts?

There were a few early comments from people who needed to redo their CarPlay setup. After ANA6 I proactively did this by deleting my phone from the PCM and then going through the process of setting up wireless CarPlay by starting with a cable etc.

Be aware that under normal operation, wireless CarPlay is necessarily connected via both Bluetooth and the Taycan WiFi network, but continues to use the iPhone’s cellular data connection for internet access.

Thank you….I tried the phone delete/add, no luck, taking it back to the dealer for them to get eyes (and ears) on this issue.

Good morning,

I’m effectively ignoring the Taycan WiFi connection on my IPhone by simply forgetting the network and everything seems to be working exactly as it was and should, but with even faster connections. No more shutdowns, CarPlay boots up immediately, no more loss of internet on my phone….do you see any downside not connecting to the Taycan Wi-Fi? I still have full functionality monitoring my car through the MyPorsche App on my phone…state of charge, lock status, location, etc. What exactly are we connecting to the car’s Wi-Fi for, any purpose?

You should never need to manually connect to the Taycan WiFi for the purpose of using CarPlay, that all happens transparently. Once wireless CarPlay is set up, under normal circumstances it’s ‘do nothing’ and it’s active when you enter the car and power up.

For completeness, there are other scenarios where you might want to actively connect to the Taycan WiFi- 1) For the calendar sync feature and 2) If your region supports the hotspot service and you have subscribed to that.

Last thing - don’t explicitly tell your iPhone to ‘forget’ the network. That will probably interfere with CarPlay. ‘Forget’ in terms of just not thinking about it, and let the phone orchestrate connection transparently.

Thank you. I’ll continue to monitor but I don’t use the calendar and the hotspot feature doesn’t appear to work, at least here in Florida.

Did you forget the connection on your phone as well? You should make sure to clear the phone side as well as the Taycan side.

Hi, yea, I chose “forget this network”, but it still populates as an available network, as I guess it should. It is recognizing the 5G ATT network now, I just hope it holds, it didn’t the past few drives.

Everything is great on this end…deleting and adding my Iphone, and forgetting the Taycan network on my IPhone seems to have flipped the switch…everything is working perfectly!

We’re all good (24 hours plus and counting) with the ”forget this network”….it’s acting as it should once again, the car is perfect right now.

Thanks for your assistance, I did have to tell the IPhone to forget the Taycan, but everything is working as it should…again, thank you for responding.
