Apple car play issue

I've noticed my apple car play does not continuing playing when I restart the car. Even if I go into it and press play (this is being controlled by the car screen not my phone) it starts the song but no volume. The only way I can get it to play again is to go to another service, such as radio or USB then go back to apple car play.

I assume this is a bug.. Does Porsche have anywhere for us to log these sort of things?

Download shortcuts from the App Store and we’ll write some scripts. I’ve got one running that stops carplay auto playing and one that stops it playing on my phone out the phones loudspeaker as soon as I leave my car when carplay disconnects. That is annoying.
Still experimenting so this is work in progress.

Give me a shout tomorrow when you’ve downloaded it & we’ll experiment.

Ah right. That won’t help with carplay, lol.

Although, you do mention carplay so are you using both?

Android may be a Bluetooth issue so I probably can’t help.
iPhone we’ll give it a whirl.

Surprisingly good and flexible considering we are running within the Apple sandbox.

I also have a script running to allow Siri (and Alexa) to open my garage door. Why? Because I can, lol.

I’m not a software engineer, just a geek.

I love this stuff and can’t wait to set up the CarPlay shortcut. My car is in the detail shop another 2 days but I’m hoping I can figure out the wireless CarPlay thing

You need a bit of hardware:

I then 3D printed a housing for it too, the link to the cad file is in the reviews.

You need the eWe Link app, IFTTT app and to code apples shortcuts.

I followed this video & it all worked.



Bit if a chore setting the code and logging the accounts but I use Siri in my 911 to open the door & Alexa to close it from the kitchen.

Having been a long life Android user, I wanted to try out the car play within the Taycan. I was working on the basis, if I didn't like it, i could always sell the IPhone.

Well, I'm impressed. The integration options are really good and I can see me using this UI instead of the Porsche one. Need to have a little play now.. I use youtube music not Apple music, so I'd like to set this up to play automatically when in the car.. I will follow @Smithy37 very handy guide above and have a mess.

I’ve been trying to get myTuner to start but although it opens the app it won’t auto play.
I’m still messing around though & won’t be beaten.

Ok. Ignore that, CarPlay disconnects the blue tooth connection so you loose the ability to make and receive phone calls. The easy way around this, just use what’s app within car play.

Yes, carplay will handle all the calls & messages unless you turn it off in the PCM.

It’s not a perfect integration with the PCM by any means and I am still learning the little idiosyncrasies but on the whole it’s not a bad experience.

What I’ve found is Waze will run in the background so if there are any hazards or alerts you will still receive these regardless of what screen you are in (including the PCM). This is worth carplay alone for me.

Siri works well (long press the voice command button on the steering wheel) and it will control Spotify to a certain degree.

Don’t think you can instigate a call on the steering wheel buttons (still messing around) but when I did receive a call I was able to answer & end using steering wheel buttons.

If you press the thumb wheel on the steering wheel to mute a song it doesn’t appear to want resume playing by pressing it again unlike the PCM media options.
