Is it possible to use the maps (google, apple, waze) on apple car play and then see it on the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel?

No. Apple Car Play does not support multiple screens on any car yet.

That would be nice if Porsche mirrors it
I wish there was a direct Porsche suggestion page online

I thought I heard that Apple do support multiple screens but car manufacturers have not implemented this. I thought for instance that Apple Music would support the song text to be displayed in the passenger screen?? Anyone?

Nope it currently does not support multiple screens. It does expose current media information via a process that emulates an iPod and a car is able to extract the current track information.

Effectively a car can get access to whatever is playing in system instance of MPMusicPlayerController. But this just gives a data structure around the current playing track which it is free to display in whichever way the manufacturer chooses.

This is very different to showing a UIView or View (if using SwiftUI) on the main display from a running carplay app. Car play apps in general are very limited in what they can do – much stricter than a regular iOS app. Also, each app has to be individually approved by Apple before you can even get the appropriate XCode access to develop an application for it.

This is why there is such a limited amount of CarPlay apps out there.
