Hi,
Anybody else received the ARB6 recall notice in the UK yet? Just received mine whilst in a long and drawn out conflict with the dealership who have had my Taycan for over 6 months. This recall is laughable and with the advent of the class action happening over in the US Im wondering how long before it comes to the UK. The final nail in the coffin is highlighted on page 2.
"Additionally, until the inspection has been completed, we would advise not to charge the vehicle under cover and or to ensure the vehicle is not parked adjacent to or under buildings ".
Even if I wanted the car back it invalidates my insurance first off but now it makes it seem down right dangerous...

Thoughts?

Ouch!
Thank you for sharing.
The advice to park ARB6 VINs away from buildings (during charging only, or all the time?) does not appear on this interim ARB6 owner notification letter posted at US regulator NHTSA.
(Some of the text on the sample letter is obscured (deliberately?).

Dear Mr Porsche, you have to buy this back as it does not comply with the standards you said it had when I bought it. I did not buy a car trhat can only cover 80% of the range advertised. My insurance is void if my vehicle is parked outside. My EVSE is inside. My parking space is adjacent to my home etc..............
Buy it back - at a decent price....................
All in a nicely worded letter to Porsche UK, copied to Porsche GMBH

I definitely think something along these lines is warranted.

The need for monitoring software is one thing, but the rest makes the car unusable IMO. Porsche clearly aren't comfortable with the safety of the car.

Am hoping this doesn't come my way!

To add...presumably this could happen with any J1...?

Sorry to read that, hope they do the right thing and compensate you but don't hold your breath.

Going to the dealer for 3hours every 60 days until they get the new software ready and installed is also a major pain, not as bad as 80% charge limit and parking away from buildings. What about taking an ARB6 car on a ferry/Eurostar?

If this impacts all J1's, 151,000(?) cars worldwide is a mammoth task.

This whole "parking away from buildings" is so stupid...

In a city, where am I supposed to park? Outside the city? In the forest next to the city?

Parkings are either right next to the building or under the building.

The only reason they say this is so they don't have to pay for damages in case it does catch on fire. "we told him not to park on planet earth, therefore we are not liable for any damages"

Interesting that they state to park away from buildings etc.

My recall letter here in France has exactly the same layout and translated text. BUT nothing about the parking instructions! Perhaps a reflection on the different countries legal systems?

I also think Porsche is trying to cover their own backside with the QR code included in the text.

It opens a website dedicated to instruct you how to only charge to 80% with all the settings and different scenarios and technologies!

Porsche believes that UK Taycans are more likely to ignite than those in France & US?

Go and park it outside the dealership and tell them it stays there until they fix it?

My understanding is that this relates to a specific range of VINs and so if you didn't get the letter by now I don't think you should be overly concerned.

Not a well written letter nor has the author considered the practicalities of the advice given - clearly not a user / owner of a Taycan!

My commiserations to any ARB6 victims:(

Leaves me wondering if these ARB6 notification letters will dribble out of Porsche UK over time or whether the current mail-shot is the extent of it🤔

Yes. I'll just get my 100 metre charging cable out so i can plug in away from my house. Maybe porsche will supply us some extension leads?

I would imagine that letter could open them up to a world of pain.... Not good from any angle.
