Let's please try to keep this thread focused on questions that we'd ask a sales associate/Porsche ambassador and not make it into a suggestion/complaint box. I'd recommend reaching out to PCNA for that and there are other threads to discuss these things so we don't clutter this one.

Luke is taking a lot of time to scour answers for us, so let's try to keep it relevant and concise.

Dan,

Thank you! Just hoping to help someone if I can.

In response to your questions

1- Yes. I think the Taycan is always going to be a work in progress and will continue to improve for years to come. This is a huge switch for any traditional auto manufacturer, especially Porsche. I know it's hard to say "give them time" but they really are trying super hard to continue to innovate and improve on the car.

2- Yes. In our trainings there were mentions of very soon having streaming options available for Passenger Display... Things like Netflix, Hulu, etc are in the works as we speak. Have no idea on timing, but I think that was the real thought behind the passenger display. Other than that, the Cockpit view is pretty awesome if you haven't used that.
Thanks for putting together that list, it’s making me rethink some of my options too! What’s the Cockpit view? Wasn’t able to find anything on Google or YouTube..

Appreciate the heads up on Netflix/Hulu too, never occurred to me that it was meant for that which could be really useful!

I wonder if the option to watch videos on the passenger display will be allowed in the US as I believe NTSB has band that unless at a full stop? Thoughts?

As an example, iOS just shows non-intrusive, light colored dots to show additional pages of apps exist.
In fact, I'd argue that "precise scrolling" here (that is, pixel vs. page) is a mistake. There's no sensible reason to require things to scroll up partially.

By using horizontally scrolling "pages", you eliminate the cut-off and significantly improve while-driving interaction, because you can basically just "flick" the screen sideways and you get to the next page, vs. dragging (especially with the bad inertia implementation in the Taycan's PCM, but even fixing that doesn't solve the basic problem).

Page scrolling doesn't solve discoverability, which is one reason why the icons are cut off. (The other being UI element sizes vs. available real estate)

Dan,

On the Passengers Display there is an icon that is not on the main central display called "Cockpit View" this allows your passenger to see your driving mode, current speed, and other information.

Pretty cool and reminds me a lot of what Ferrari is doing with their passenger displays.

You can still watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. on a Tesla right? Unless they've removed that feature in recent months and I am just unaware.

If Tesla can do it, don't see why Porsche or any other manufacturer wouldn't be able to!

Probably only going to be a stationary thing to start out with, i.e. can't play while driving around.

Of course there's a tradeoff. But classic "dot-hints" are pretty universal these days, and that, combined with the ability to rearrange things to your liking, alleviate both cases and avoid the scroll problem.

Once you have more elements than space, you kind of have to either shrink everything (bad idea), add additional hierarchy (they have more than enough now), or add some sort of scroll/page setup. I'm just suggesting for this use, given the general approach of the UI (sure, we could redesign the whole thing, but what's Porsche more likely to do here?), pages work better.

(Apologies for continuing the thread with not-directly-related discussion.)

Hi LukeManning,

When buying a new Taycan, should I be able to negotiate at all with the dealer to get some kind of incentive? e.g. MRSP, boot liner, alloy protection, price in any way?

I've sold pretty much all of my Taycan at MSRP. Especially if it is a Taycan that you have custom ordered, or a Turbo/S. I certainly wouldn't expect someone to pay over their MSRP though, that's totally unnecessary.

Now that being said, I do include things like all weather mats, accessories, window tint upon request.

There are so many incentives, at least here in the states, that help to offset the purchase price. We even help our clients to apply for some of the rebates that they weren't even aware of.

Tbh, I don't know why I asked about MSRP, I don't even know what it means haha. Just seen it on other threads. Something to do with the market price of the car? Anything to do with the residual value?

My dad has placed an order for a £155k/$210k spec'd Turbo S already and I'm looking at order a £92k/$125k spec'd 4S on Tuesday. I'd like to think that the dealer will throw in some extras for both our orders. What kind of accessories seem to go down well? And is alloy protection out of the remit?

By MSRP I just mean the price that you build the vehicle out to, the retail price or the price on the window sticker of the car.

I would think for sure if you're placing 2 orders with a dealer you should be able to get a few things from them, here is what I'd ask for:

1. Throw in the Porsche Scheduled Maintanence Plan (PSMP) +1 package. This will cover your first service at Year 2 or 20,000 miles.

2. All Weather Mats and Trunk/Frunk Cargo Liner. Really nice to have in the car, especially if you're going to be using it daily.

3. Window Tint. If you like the look of window tint, I'd see if they could do this to all the windows for you.

4. Porsche Accessories. Hat, Keychains, Mugs, get yourself decked out with some goodies.

5. You could try for the Porsche Wheel and Tire Protection (Alloy Protection) but in my honest opinion it's a rather expensive ask. You might be able to get it compensated on one of the cars, but not the other.

One thing I always tell my friends and family when going through the car purchase experience is to at least ask. The worst you'll get is a NO, but sometimes you'll be surprised.

Hope this helps! Congrats on the new orders, you're going to love them.

That's great news! I was only expecting one of those options, nevermind up to potentially 5! I'll make a note when I go for the test drive with my dad and use it as a negotiation tool.

With regards to the window tint, is this the same as the privacy glass pack? Or is it just for the front driver and passenger side windows?

Also, each branch I've spoken to have advised me to add the performance battery pack option as it will help with the residual value. But I can't see the cost of this option (£4600) nearly repaying itself in residual value after 3 years. Am I correct in thinking this?

Luke, here’s a question for you... a number of Taycan odds and ends (paperweights, little model cars, etc) were received by some people here from their dealers during the wait for delivery to begin. I received nothing from my dealer, so I assume this is a per-dealer thing and not directly from PCNA. How does it work from the dealer side?
