Our new Taycan will arrive in about 6 weeks. It is our first-ever EV - I've never even charged one before. We have a large private driveway but do not have a garage so will be charging outside overnight. Are there any recommendations for outdoor chargers suitable for "Level 2"?

Do you have a wall to mount it on or do you need free standing?

We have a Grizzl-E level 2 charger outside, it works great- no issues. Good quality, weatherproof

I have a handy wall and am going for a wallbox. Watzilla has a freestanding version.

I am doing the wallbox48. It is hard wired to the circuit, which I think is more appropriate for outside.

I use a Juice Box. I used 8 gauge wire from my panel, connected to a 50amp breaker running to a 14-50 NEMA plug. Then I plug my Juice Box into that, they are rated for indoors and out.
Question, why would you not use your 3 years of free EA charging first?

Good luck.

Charging at home is just too convenient. We've only used EA a couple of times so far and that was just as a test. Haven't taken a long enough trip that used all the battery.

Got it, and agree it is very easy to charge at home.

Well whatever you do, enjoy it!

We live in rural Napa Valley so we're about an hour or so from an EA charger

Chargepoint HCS-50, 40A. They also make a pedestal if you need mounting point.

fast charging always is harder on the battery than L2 charging

you’ll want a hardwired waterproof charger - not plug based

the porsche wall charger would be great
any clipper creek
juice box
charge point

the taycan cones with a 50/40 amp charger but it’s plug based so you would need a hooded/covered nema 14-50/6-50 plug for it

so technically you do not need to purchase a charger - but outdoor use with a well covered plug is a grey area for safety
