My fix with British Gas for electricity is coming to an end in July.
They have no current ev tariff as they can't get smart meters!
Looking at a switch to Octopus - 7.5ppkwh 12;30 to 04;30 and 34.43ppkwh otherwise, plus sc 44.8ppd.

Does anyone know of a better deal?

Thanks
David

Try OVO... I think something similar.
Then there is EDF (GO and 35) as well.

I think all will be similarly priced...

On a side note:
Why can't you get a smart meter from BG?
Could you please elaborate a little...

How many KWH do you think you will use in a year charging at home? I am currently with Shell Energy, they do not offer a EV tariff but rate is 28.455p and standing charge is 43.39p/day. Looking on the Octopus iste just now they seem to be offerring slightly longer off peak rate

I have done 8011 miles and only ever charged once away from home.
I have managed to get nearly all of that on Octopus Go cheap rate (5.5p kw/h).

This is how much I've used since I got the car.

So essentially it's cost me a couple of hundred quid to do 8k miles (although my tarrif will be increasing soon).

Thanks Ian, that's the sort of reassurance newbies like me appreciate.

Brilliant!! That is really useful data, 8000miles = 3500kWh. I do about 18,000 miles pa and at least one long trip a week so will probably be using public chargers a bit more than you but I am home most nights so hopefully most charging will be on home tariff.

This may also help.
The car has not moved or been charged since I posted the EV reading.
I got the car on 8th August 2021 and I reckon 95%+ of my charging has been at 5.5p (cheap rate Octopus).
👍

The trick is ABC - Always be charging.

Even if the car is on 80%, I still charge to 85%.
Then if I need to do an unexpected long journey the next day it still often keeps it in the 'cheap window' (basically it's possible to charge from 50%+ to 85% between 00.30 - 04.30am) with the Bigger battery on a typical 7.4kw home charger.

Any time it drops below 50% it will be at the higher tariff (up to 50%) - unless its spread over more than one night.

So always be charging! 👍

Not sure if I am reading this correctly? Is that 3.3miles per kWh for the 8008 miles as that would compute to 2424 Kwh rather than 3516Kwh?

That's correct.
I have shared the home charger on occasions, so the car reading will be correct.

I think there may also be some loss between the charger and the car and then driving the car??

Whichever.... Its still very cheap motoring 👍

Have you tried rightcharge.co.uk to compare suppliers. It recommending Intelligent Octopus based on the data I entered but I'm not sure if that works with the Porsche EVSE yet?

With Intelligent Octopus it seems you programme the SOC you want and the time you need it by and you get the cheap rate no matter shen the vehicle is charged.

If you go with Octopus definitely sign up for their Electric Juice card since you do a lot of driving. I have a Taycan with Octopus EV.

Hmm. This is the message i get on the octopus energy website when i look at switching.....

Not sure switching to a different tariff right now is a good idea, unless you do star trek mileage and remember to turn off your lights when you go out.
