Any safe recommended spots to try out launch control in the Bay Area? I have access to Moffett Field but somehow I doubt the ANG and Google would find it amusing if they see a Taycan whooshing down the runway.

I assume when you say Bay Area you actually mean south bay. Because Bunker road on a weekday is pretty quiet in Marin along with several roads out to the shore north of there like Nicacio Valley Road.

South Bay there is no shortage of crappy commercial parks with straightaways totally empty 7pm and beyond. Practically describes all of Sunnyvale. Whiskey hill road to woodside is a flat quiet straight too.

nothing official - but I find later at night plenty of opportunities to extend the Taycan's legs.

I should have clarified - Peninsula, South Bay and East Bay. Problem with these commercial parks is you always have some car pop up from their parking lots. Where did Bay Area Taycan owners try out launch control - or has no one launched their Taycans here?!

just go on 280 at night, stop on a ramp that gives you good visibility behind, forward, and behind on the highway, and send it.

some would say this is unsafe, but if you have a wide, empty, flat road where you have a mile of visibility front and back, i don't think there's anywhere safer.

it’s just that launching them is actually quite boring. It’s not a normal driving behavior and isn’t particularly interesting. And in these cars tends to be uncomfortably fast. Launches are now just for reviews and bragging rights.

I tend to go on the ramp from Moffett Park Dr onto 237W. I go that way to get home, then get off at Mathilda, get back on 237 the other way and stomp it again, and get off at Fair Oaks.

Check Enterprise way near Moffett field, it’s where many of the Amazon offices are

Enterprise way actually has multiple speed traps on it - headed in the direction of Lockheed’s gates. It’s another matter that they don’t actively ticket people using that data.

Launch control or just flooring the accelerator?

Launch. It's a very short turn on the ramp. Then stop, and launch.

Especially coming from Moffett Park and not Crossman, as few ppl are going to get on from Moffett Park.

Yeah, that’s an option. Also, Canada road as someone suggested.

I will second the Canada recommendation. Actually has a flat quarter mile, perfectly straight, and there's basically nobody there at night. I do recommend a reconnaissance run one way before launching the other way, just to check for deer and San Mateo County Sherrif's deputies...
